if you've purchased a hf-10 or hf-11, i will assume you are pretty serious about video or at least serious as an amateur. i purchased this item based on reviews and interest for shooting groups, landscapes etc. IMHO, this is a *must have* for the camera. I never take it off.
so since you've made the investment to take great video, it's highly worth it to pick up this item.
