Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon 2588B003 BP-809S Lithium Ion BatteryCustomer Review: Does what it is supposed to. Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased this as a second battery for the Canon HF10. It gets about 80min of recording time when not using the video light. Not much else to say, it's just like the one that comes with the camera.
Customer Review: This is my first video camera Summary: 3 Stars
so I really don't know if this performance is good compared to others. It doesn't seem like it lasts for the prescribed amount of time, and it does seem to start uncharging the minute it goes on the camera (even if the camera is off). This may (or may not) be par for the course for video camera batteries.
I am used to Nikon still camera batteries which last through several photography sessions and for days if you don't use the camera, so I find this constant battery changing a little bit perplexing. But it might be perfectly normal.
My advice to anyone who, like me, is not used to using video batteries: BUY PLENTY OF THEM!
Customer Review: Good backup battery Summary: 3 Stars
The battery had a slightly lighter color than the camcorder. It fully charges in less than 45 minutes and last ~80 minutes with minimal use of the digital zoom. With excessive use of the zoom, the battery will only last ~60-65 minutes of recording time.
I have charged the battery almost 10 times now, and each time it last approximately the same recording time. In this sense, you can always count on the battery being reliable. I would strongly recommend this product if the price was lower. At the current price, it's not a bargain, and not a good value, but a good replacement/backup option.
