Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon 2588B004 BP-809B Lithium Ion Battery

Customer Review: Great Battery
Summary: 5 Stars

Very good battery. I always buy name brand vs. off market. Pays dividends in the end.

Customer Review: battery
Summary: 4 Stars

Except for the fact that it doesn't really fit my camcorder properly, I'm sure it will be fine. The BP-807 that fits better (same connection, but larger size) is apparently not available any more. Alas. I haven't used it yet. It will get its chance this summer out in the boonies which is why I wanted a genuine Canon. I trust it will work.

Customer Review: Not great for HF10/HF100
Summary: 3 Stars

This is more the camera's fault than the battery's, but the BP-809 won't last much more than an hour on the Vixia HF10 or HF100 (even less if you zoom, use the on-board light, or do other power-intensive things). Much better to get the Canon 2589B002 BP-819 Lithium Ion Battery for HF10 & HF100 Camcorders, which provides a comfortable 2.5 hours of performance on either camcorder.

Customer Review: Slightly short for HFS-100, lasts about 70 min
Summary: 3 Stars

So, the good news is that this battery works fine with Canon HFS-100 camcorder. It is slightly shorter than the original battery that comes with the camcorder, but lasts little longer.
Cons:
- It is expensive for battery that last slightly longer than 1 hour
- It is shorter than the original battery so it does not look great
Apparently, the better choice is BP-819 that is little longer than the original battery, but lasts more than 2 hours.

Customer Review: Canon has a misleading naming convention.
Summary: 2 Stars

I own a Canon VIXIA HFS100. The camera ships with a BP-807 battery. I bought the BP-809 battery expecting it to be a larger, higher capacity battery than the BP-807. One would think larger model number = larger battery. Not so. The 809 is actually a smaller battery than the 807. Who thought up this numbering scheme?!? I retuned the BP-809 and ordered the BP-819. The BP-819 will run for almost a continuous three hours.
