I bought this and paired it with the Canon BP-827 (read my review).
Very similar to the Canon S90 charger or Sony Cybershot chargers, but with different connection points. The two prong plug folds into itself in order to compact the size, so nothing is sticking out.
It plugs in flat to the outlet, with the battery slightly sticking out.
An LED turns from orange to green to let you know the battery is charged.
Small, light weight, great travel size and won't take up much room in your camera bag.
The only thing is, you could easily lose this or forget to bring it with you all together. Work on forming new habits!
I plan to use this as my main charger and probably won't even use the charger that plugs into the camera because it's just a wad of wires and is just a pain.
Alternately, it's just a piece of plastic that should cost a lot less. I just wish the universal charger I already have for my Canon S90 photo camera would accept the Vixia line of batteries.
But, the reason I like my other charger, is the same reason I like this one. Very happy with this purchase even with the outrageous cost. If you can find a generic one or universal one for cheaper (that doesn't compromise killing your battery) or even a used one for cheaper, go for it.

The battery that comes standard with almost any camcorder usually doesn't last very long. The solution is to get an extra battery, preferably with extended life. The problem, of course, is that it takes a long time to charge those puppies. You can always have a couple ready to go in the morning, but if you are recording all day you'll want to charge up your spare while the other is in use.
That's where this battery charger comes in handy. I bought it for use with my Canon VIXIA HF10 and my HFS10, and it works great. As others have noted it charges your batteries a lot more quickly than if they were plugged in to the camcorder - plus it saves some wear and tear on the adapter plug for your camcorder.
Best of all, this is very compact. It fits in a little side pocket of my camcorder case and leaves room to spare. The plug flips in and out for easy storage. If you plan to get a lot of use out of your Vixia camcorder, this is really a must-have accessory. Highly recommended.

The CG-800 battery charger is an excellent accessory. I use this to charge my batteries for my VIXIA HF200. The HF200 ships with a BP-809 battery pack, which is not really enough to record long events, therefore most people will pick up another battery, probably a BP-819 or a BP-827. This is where this charger comes in handy because it allows you to charge one battery while using the other. Otherwise you'd have to stop using the camera, find the AC adapter, charge one battery, wait, then charge the other. Clearly not the idea with small hand held cameras like the HF200.
The charger itself is small and light and weighs just 2.8 ounces. It also has folding power plugs, which are a great feature. It has two LEDs one which is orange which is lit while charging and and another that is green and lights when the battery is fully charged. The only drawback to this thing is the price, but you will be giving this accessory a lot of use if you have two or more batteries. This charger will be in your camera bag, guaranteed.

The battery charger is very useful, especially if you're in a hurry. I bought the Canon BP-819 battery and it took about 2 hours to charge which is quicker than using the camcorder to charge. There are only 2 issues that I have with the charger.
1. It gets really hot, so if you have children around becareful.
2. I think it is pricey for this charger. Wish Canon would include it with the camcorder but that is where Canon gets you to buy their product.
Overall, good product. If you plan to be recording and you need a quick charge, this will be helpful.
