Canon know how to make quality products. The only problem is they know it and they design their devices to intentionally not work with third party equipment.
The charger is designed extremely compact. It had a folding wall plug that appears sturdy. The battery clips in nicely. Above all it charges the batteries perfectly.
Thank you Canon for making good stuff, my credit card company thanks you as well. It is just so darn expensive for what it does.

the necessary cables for you camcorder to charge your batteries.and boy is that a one other thing the genuine canon charger , charges your battery in half the time of the only tough part is getting one of these chargers........it seems that they are always out of stock.........I was lucky to find one

I've been wanting this charger for a while now, because my Canon video camera doesn't charge the battery unless I have the camera plugged in AND powered off -- unlike a cell phone or other devices that you can still use while they're being charged up. One nice feature is that the plug folds into the charger, so you can store it flat in a bag. Not a lot else to say about it (since it's a pretty basic device) other than it works and it's convenient. This is awesome. I always get the portable charger when I get a camera that does not come with one. They save alot of time and headaches. Easy to travel with. It is also great to throw a spare battery on to charge in a hurry (I can honestly say, I dont think I ever used the power cord from my old camera.)
It also shaves 50 min off the recharge time for the standard battery, even more for the extended battery.

Until I learned of the CG-800 and its remarkable capabilities, I was using my $85 Canon batteries as disposables. I had a feeling something was wrong; could digital video really be this expensive?
Since receiving my CG-800, I've been using my batteries again and again. In fact, I've canceled my monthly "Subscribe & Save" Canon battery shipment. Truly marvelous stuff.
