This Canon 72mm UV filter does what I hoped it would do. My desire was to provide a protective covering for my lens.
I spent hundreds of dollars on the lens and I thought it wise to spend another $10 or so to protect this lens's outer glass. This filter has no detrimental effect on images, protects the lens front glass and compared to the cost of the lens, the filter cost is about 2-3%. If this filter should become damaged it can be discarded. I know everyone is protective of their investments and if you should drop or otherwise damage the lens internally this filter wont help but.. Pretty cheap protection for the money spent on the outer glass of your lens.
