I own a Canon VIXIA HFS100. The BP-819 will run for almost a continuous three hours. Some people have complained about the battery sticking too far out the back of the camcorder. Granted, the tiny stock battery does not protrude at all, but the BP-819 only sticks out a tiny bit.
My camcorder shipped with a BP-807 battery. I previously bought the BP-809 battery expecting it to be a larger, higher capacity battery than the BP-807. One would think larger model number = larger battery. Not so. The 809 is actually a smaller battery than the 807. Who thought up this numbering scheme?!? I retuned the BP-809 and ordered the BP-819.

Made the purchase when I bought my Canon HF11 after hearing how horrible the stock battery was. I could not be happier with my purchase. This high capacity battery gives me 2+ hours of record time. More than enough for mutliple days or games (soccer for the kids!).
If you have a HF10/100/11 and are still using the stock battery and hating it, buy this battery and use your stocker for a back up. You won't be sorry!

We've had this battery for several months now and I love it! I highly recommend it. It's a bit pricey but well worth the investment. I keep the original battery as a back up. My kids' school choir and band performances get video taped each and every time. There is enough juice in this battery to accomplish this and I seldom, if ever, have to pull out the OEM battery. Regarding charging time length, I usually check my equipment well ahead of the performances I intend to video tape. I make sure I have enough memory cards and the batteries are charged. Charging time hasn't been an issue whatsoever.Customer Review: The natural Choice to make

This is the battery that should come with your video camera by default.
What do you do if you want to record events that last longer than 1.5 hours ? You upgrade the battery, right.
The BP-827 (4.5h) is not easy available yet everywhere so the BP-819 becomes the only choice.
It can last close to 3h and thats enough to capture most events.
(Fireworks, school event of your kid, concerts, theatre etc.).
With the external charger the battery is charged in roughly the same time (3h) with the cameras included charger its taking 4h.

The battery that came with my Canon HF-10 was a great battery but I knew right away I needed some additional power if I was going to be serious about filming. This high capacity battery is incredible and is a MUST for anyone taking video. I also liked the size as it gave me a place to rest my thumb when holding by hand.
If you are serious about filming then this is the battery you need to get you through the day. Don't forget you will also have your battery that came with the camera so know you are equipped for just about anything. Great job Canon, love your products!!!
