Customer Review: DON'T BUY A KNOCK-OFF

Okay, a lot can be said for saving money, however there can be problems with no-name or non-branded products. No matter what your "style" of photography, you will have a battery empty its charge at a critical moment. Having a back-up is essential. Having a quality back-up battery that will get you through is imperative. Knock-off brands do not hold the same charge as the branded battery meant for your camera; although their manufacture may claim it does.
Get in the zone and get the shot!

the battery handles well, i was shocked when it drained after maybe 100-200 shots, but i realized i'm always using IS, autofocus and live view on my 40d that time, i was learning the functions of my new camera so it was drained right away, soon i'll be testing how many shots i could take with a full charge with this battery, my only complain is that it's expensive, canon is being not so reasonable here, they are not the one who's making the batteries and yet they price it too much.Customer Review: Canon is the best

Like others have mentioned, the Canon branded BP511A seems to last longer than the off brands even though capacity is supposed to be equivalent. I have given up on the knock offs priced $20 cheaper because after a few months of usage they don't seem to hold a charge as long whereas the Canon batteries keep going for years. The Canon batteries will still be able to take 500 or more pictures on a charge even after a few years. None of my knock off batteries can do this.Customer Review: Worth the money

Before you buy a generic battery pack, first consider how many times you'll want to use it before it becomes useless. The generic battery I bought doesn't hold much of a charge after a dozen uses. Also, double check the voltage and capacity (mAh) of the generic, often times they're cheaper because they're underpowered and have less capacity. For my money, the reliability of the Canon BP511A is well worth the premium (I've been using the original for over a year now).Customer Review: Don't buy After Market Batteries

There will be many that will dissagree with me; but I
bought an after market battery for one of my cameras
"ONCE"!. It didn't even last a year! For me personally
I'll stay with the Canon batteries. I know they work,
they last for years and they don't give me any problems.
I know there are probably some great after market batteries,
I just prefer to stay with Canons,
Just my opinion....
