I have had my Powershot G1, with this battery, for four and a half years. I've taken over 3,000 photos here and there. The battery has only now died and only lasts for a few photos on a charge. Because I may replace the camera in the next year or so, I will likely buy a cheaper replacement battery, not this one. I was trying to save a couple bucks and I bought a few of the no-name brand batteries for my Canon DSLR. Never again! They loose their charge when you need them most. Stick with the Canon brand battery. It holds its charge much longer and will not randomly die on you. Batteries are definitely one of those things where you get what you pay for. ...and I'm just now getting a replacement.
I've been satified with the battery life...very seldomn was I frustrated that the battery didn't last long enough. This was the only battery I had for my Digital Rebel, and after 30,000 (yes, htat is a three with four zeros) the battery life is just getting noticably shorter. Much longer use than I dreamt possible.

Could it be that this battery is actually running right by the Duracell bunny. Somebody listened to the complains of us photographer and really improved the quality of this battery. In the past the Canon batteries got drained quickly, especially by the use of flash, not this one though. I was able to do shoots for days without the need to charge my battery. I have been professionally using my Canon 30D for over 1 1/2 years now, and the battery still works great! I have no problems shooting an entire wedding with it. I just purchased a second BP-511A, simply because I know that it's getting older and I needed a backup. It is really worth it to buy the Canon brand- its more than just a name when it comes to this battery.
