I have an old Canon PIXMA iP4300 printer which takes the CLI-8 color tanks. These tanks last forever - even for quite a long time after the printer starts to show that the ink is low. I've never had (over 3.5 yrs ownership) any problem with ink leakage or smudging since I only use Canon brand ink tanks. (I had those problems on an old HP after using store-brand ink.) Even after much intense usage, my printer works like a dream. The pictures I print on this ink (with various brands/types of paper) turn out beautifully vivid and lifelike. The ink rarely smudges unless a good deal of water is spilled directly on it and that's primarily using plain paper. I've never had any difficulty with fading of printed material, either. Amazon's price on this CMY 3-pack is usually excellent, too, so I usually get the 3-pack from Amazon. I don't seem to run out of the CLI-8 black tank very often so the 4-pack is usually unnecessary.Customer Review: Wal-Mart sells Canon CLI-8 inks for $14.95 each color!

And I've never seen a three - color pack at Wal-Mart. This Canon CLI 8-3 Pack is the best deal out there. As other reviewers have said, inks are inks but all inks are not created equal. Generic inks will not give you the richness of the real McCoy. If you use non-brand inks you'll have to do a lot of tweaking of your printer controls on manual to get decent color renditions. And the generics may not have the chip that tells your printer when the ink cartridge is running low.
I have no affiliation with Canon but as an artist I am very satisfied with my Canon Pixma IP4300 printer and the frosting on the cake, this color package!

The order was placed on Thursday and arrived on Monday! The colors look great. I might try compatible inks sometime but the with/without chip designation puts a shiver down my backbone just a bit. The free shipping was the icing on the cake. The three colored inks went down at different rates...all three cartridges had to be replaced in a couple of weeks. The individual cartridges still seem to be a good idea though. If you run out of ink you just can't print, no continuing! Amazon has the best price so far as I know.

Shipping and price can't be beat. Manufacturer's ink tends to be pricey but I have ruined a couple printers by either refilling the cartridges myself or purchasing refilled ones. I love my Canon MX700 printer because of the quality of photos and life-span of the ink cartridges so I'm not taking the risk of using anything but Canon's brand. That being said, I like to keep some in stock and when I find a good deal, I go for it.
Shipping was very fast for this item. I intend to purchase from this seller again.
Customer Review: Saving dollars by excluding the black

Like many other reviewers, my printer uses much more CM&Y than it does K (black). I'm not sure exactly why this is, but it seems to be very common among the PIXMA printers. By creating a 3 pack that excludes the black it does me and many others a favor. I'm glad they decided to cater to the consumer when I half expect companies to do the opposite when more money can be had.
I also wanted to mention that this is compatible with the PIXMA iP5200R, even though the Amazon ink wizard on the page says it's not.
