Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon CLI-8 4-Color Ink Tank

Customer Review: Great prints good price
Summary: 5 Stars

I tried "aftermarket" ink (about $10 for the counterpart to this item) after going through the ink that came with my MP600. It printed ok, but the color was not as good and you have to remove the chip from the Canon cartridge and stick it to the aftermarket cartridge while wearing the supplied plastic glove. This is not fun when you are in a hurry to get something printed. It seems I'm always in a hurry when I'm printing for some reason!

At any rate, I came back to the Canon ink and I'm glad I did. Amazon gave the usual great service and I'm loving the Prime shipping!

PC Magazine did a printing cost review a couple of issues back and the MP600 was about second from the top for least expensive printing. I was pleased. Canon printers and ink strike a good balance between quality (excellent) and cost per page (always very competitive).

Inkjet printing is not cheap no matter which printer you have, but I'm pleased with this item as the best, most reliable solution for the lowest or almost lowest price.

Customer Review: Satisfactory ink, but pricing shows a bit of short-sightedness at Canon
Summary: 5 Stars

Fine - I get the 2 black cartridges thing. For the family photos I print, I honestly can't see a big improvement over my old printer. But what-ever.
But hello on the price? Razor blades, razor-shmazer, there's a limit to what intelligent consumers will accept before they feel like they've been duped. Is there a young'un in the brand manager seat over at Canon who got control over pricing and razzed the corporate layer with sensitivity flow charts? I shouldn't have to think twice before I use my printer for everyday use - and yet, I do. Thank goodness we're networked to a color laser printer, too, because I end up redirecting MOST documents to that instead so I can save ink. And btw, the ink in this machine must evaporate, because I'm replacing a cartridge every 2 months with normal, single-user use. I'm almost nostalgic for my old HP laser workhorse - a billion pages on one cartridge was worth waiting 3 minutes for each page. Have you guessed? My next printer will NOT be a Canon.

Customer Review: Great Print quality for normal documents and Photographs

Canon PIXMA MP830 Office All-In-One Printer

I use the Canon CLI-8 ink tanks on my canon MP 830 Multifunction printer, the ink rocks, the normal document print quality both color and black/white is great. Photographs are vivid and life like, my friends didnot believe i printed the photos at home.

Canon has placed a chip on each ink tank that stores the ink empty status, i am told even if you manage to refill it you cannot reset the eprom status back to full. I guess its canon's way to ensure you buy only thier catridges. I have not tried to refill them. The ink tanks last for quite a bit, i would preferred them to last longer and be without the chip.

Go for it, the ink quality is great. the price is reasonable.

Customer Review: Canon Pixma Ink 8-Series
Summary: 5 Stars

This ink provides the most vibrant, realistic photos I have ever seen. They say that my prints can last up to 100 years on Canon paper...I even dropped pictures outside in the rain and they didn't even get damaged...the prints are still good!!! I can't wait to keep printing photos...I also have a printer with a large black ink for text which saves on the color ink...so far so good!!!
The color prints are better than printing at CVS because they have true black photo printing...the prints from CVS are faded and don't give the same color range as the ink printer does...I'm going to give a thumbs up to Canon on their new printers! I even did an albumn using their new software, included in the box for free...!!! I am hanging a print on my refrigerator...I'm told it can last up to ten years without fading, better than CVS...

Customer Review: Finally...
Summary: 5 Stars

...a multi-pack for the Canon 8-series inks! Like most people, I have spent at least twice what my MP800 printer cost on feeding its appetite for ink. I always bought its ink at Staples. Every $14 dollars I forked over per cartridge brought me a $3 cartridge return coupon, making the final price a bit more affordable. Then Canon and Staples had some kind of falling out (who knows about what) and my less-expensive ink supply source was suddenly disrupted. That's when I found this multi-pack in an Office Depot and I was back in business.

My only complaint is that I would like an option for buying the color cartridges packaged with the PGI-5 Pigment Black in place of the CLI-8Bk blank ink tank. I currently have an abundence of the latter and seem to use more of the former in my print work.
