Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon Deluxe Photo Backpack 200EG for Canon EOS SLR Cameras (Black with Green Accent)Customer Review: superb little backpack Summary: 5 Stars
I really like this backpack very much. What was not mentioned in the reviews that I read before purchasing it was that the partitions inside the backpack are adjustable! This is a very nice feature to custom- position your partitions to fit your own equipment. The pack seems very well made (sturdy) and it looks very nice too (fashion-wise) plus it holds all of my stuff with room to spare. I have fit in a Canon 40D with a 28-130 kit lens attached, an Orion 90mm Mak telescope that I use for a zoom, plus a star-diagonal, a few eyepieces, a view-finder, cables, dove tail adapters, battery charger, manuals, and still have enough room left over after all of that stuff on the inside conveniently the same shape as a beer can... Somebody was thinking when they designed this bag. Oh yes, it is quite comfortable to wear as well: alot of nice, thick, protective and comfortable foam padding. There is only one small disadvantage I would mention; the very stylish yet noticeable CANON label on the back: sometimes I am in places where I'd rather nobody knew what I have in the bag... I forgot to mention that there are tie straps on the sides and bottom for a tripod or other gizmos. And the laced-up part on the very front (reference the photo) is a great place to toss your gloves or map and other small, loose items while you fumble with your camera. Very neat idea. For the price I am just blown away. If you have more stuff than will fit into this bag then what you need is a mule, not a backpack.
Customer Review: Best for the price. Summary: 5 Stars
For under $50, this is the best bag I've found. It is smaller than a traditional backpack so it kind of feels like you're wearing a child's backpack but I got used to it in a day or two.
The only negatives I've found with it are that the tripod straps on the bottom are nearly impossible to work quickly. I took them off and replaced them with some professional strength double-sided velcro. This bag doesn't have the buckle that goes around the front just incase the zipper fails to prevent all of your gear from spilling onto the ground. I added one by putting a velcro strap around each of the two side buckles.
It seems that Canon made this bag JUST big enough to fit a pro-body DSLR with a grip or one of the 1 series DSLRs up at the top. My 7D with grip was pretty tight at first but within a few days, the bag stretched out a little and now it fits just right.
I've found that there is plenty of room for all of my gear. That mainly includes:
Canon 7D + BG-E7 Battery Grip
Canon Rebel XS
Canon EF-S 15-85mm with hood
Canon EF-S 18-55mm
Canon EF 50mm f/1.4
Canon EF 70-300mm IS with hood
Tokina RMC 28mm f.2.8 + Reverse macro adapter
Pro Optic Extension Tube Set
11, 72mm and 58mm filters
RØDE Video Mic
Manfrotto 190XDB Tripod with 501HDV Head
3 Battery chargers
As you can see, it holds a lot.
I would and have recommended this bag to family and friends.
Customer Review: Awesome Bag....Buy it NOW !! Summary: 5 Stars
This bag is one of the best items that I have invested my money in. It holds my Olympus OM-1n SLR camera and its accesories - 70-210mm zoom lens, 24mm wide angle lens, 50mm Zuiko lens, 2x Teleconveter, couple of film canisters, cable release, a Vivitar flash along with a bulky 5.3 MP HP 954 digital camera with an adapter tube for filters (almost the size of a D-SLR) and its accessories - a 2x teleconverter, a 0.5x wide angle lens, a battery charger, 4 extra batteries, lots of filters with absolute ease. This is only in the inside compartment.
I have strapped my tripod to one side (It is the same comfort level when I strap my tripod to the bottom..Options, options!!) and the other side pocket holds my 750 ml Nalgene bottle. The two front pockets hold everything from maps, compass, GPS, knifes, lunch, flash light, trash bags, etc. The webbing in the front allows me to put a small jacket in it or even stick another water bottle in it.
This is an ideal backpack for day hikes for an amateur photographer like me.
All in all, I'm extremely pleased with my purchase. Thanks to Amazon for the great deal ($35 + Free Ship). It's worth every single penny I spent on it.
I couldn't afford $100+ on a LowePro or a Tamrac backpack. Why waste money when I could get the same quality backpack from Canon for an amazing price. If you are considering to buy a decent backpack for cheap, buy this one and buy it NOW ! You wouldn't be disappointed.
Customer Review: Better Than Other SLR Backpacks Summary: 5 Stars
I own SLR backpacks by Tamrac, Lowe, and this "Canon" backpack. After six months of intensive use, I feel confident recommending it. I have a full SLR system in each of my bags, and I use the Canon backpack for my D200 or D50 rigs. It outshines the others, at under half the price, and less than 1/3 of the cost of the Tamrac. The 200 EG sits upright very well, with tons of support [that you don't feel while wearing it]. Rather than opening from the top, it peels away from the front while standing steady. I am easily able to fit an older 80-200 2.8 lens [big and fast], along with a large 85 mm, fast 50mmm, 20 mm, with space left over -- and the dividers are well configured, strong, and easily manipulated. I have also comfortably used the bag with my Pentax 645 rig, although I only carried three lenses.
The pocket areas outside the main compartment accomodate a LOT of add'l materials, incl. an aircan for dusting. The bag is lightweight, strong, roomy, and [if you remove the Canon logo], it doesn't scream "I'm a camera bag -steal me!" Which is important to paranoid folks like me. I would like a good tripod strap system, which is missing, but the webbing handles a good traveling tripod well. I am sad to say I go with this "cheapo" 95% of the time; it's a fabulous bag at the price. And Adorama was quick to deliver; nicely boxed and protected [although it didn't need it].
Customer Review: Built for the photographer with every little thing Summary: 5 Stars
What's great about this bag is the versatility. You can rearrange the compartments anyway you like because they are held in place with Velcro. (A strong hold) The main compartment is very well padded and can hold your SLR with a large lens attached plus several other lenses depending on how you arrange it. You can take out the dividers and make the 6 small spaces into a different combination. The main compartment is about 14"x12" (and 5" deep) becoming slightly more narrow at the top.
Covering than the main compartment when closed, there are two other zippered and unpadded compartments on the back. One is about 14"x9" (narrows to 6" at the top.) And the other one atop it and is 11"x9". The bungee on the back (the thing that looks like a shoelace" is adjustable and can hold just about anything. One small compartment (6"x5") compliments each side. The straps on the bottom are meant for a tripod.
Overall the bag is well built and could probably take a fair about of rain before the main compartment becomes damp. But I live in CA and it's summer here so I can't say for sure.
The only thing you will find undesirable about this bag is the small canon logo on the back. (Thieves will have a good idea what you have in there.)
I paid only $30 plus shipping and it looks like the price just went up, but it's still a good buy.
