Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon Deluxe Photo Backpack 200EG for Canon EOS SLR Cameras (Black with Green Accent)

Customer Review: Works for me
Summary: 5 Stars

I live in a small place and I use this bag to organize my cameras and accessories. For an upcoming 4000 mile roadtrip I will keep the pack on the passenger seat which will give me quick access to my gear while at the same time protecting it from damage and separating it from what inevitably will become the chaos of my car interior.

Some have complained about how well this product holds up when used for its intended purpose of carrying it on your back. Truth is I've never even tried it on my back. If I wanted to take all the gear on the trail, I'd likely just put the pack into my larger REI day pack which is as durable and rugged as they come.

The cords on the back are to carry a tripod. Also there's a zipper compartment under the cords that's perfect for safe-keeping of operating manuals. My biggest camera is an SLR with a zoom lens. At the top of the pack's interior there's a perfect size spot for it.

It's a nice looking product if you care about such things and the price is right, though when I bought mine 7 months ago Amazon's price was $32.15, almost a third less. It's made in Korea, so the price surge may reflect the sinking dollar.

Customer Review: Truly great
Summary: 5 Stars

As all the other reviewers said, this is a truly great backpack. Perfect fit for my 7D and 5 lens and multiple accessories. Lots of pockets. A great product at a great price, which is quite surprising considering how expensive certain products are from Canon.

The only reason I was hesitant to initially purchase this was because of the one reviewer stating the lens may fall out of place because they are not sealed... this is not a truthful claim. Upon repeatedly testing the bag and using it for a long period of time, moving from location to location all week, there was not a single instance of anything moving out of place because the bag seals tight not allowing anything to fall out of the lens pockets. And another claim that the lenses may fall out upon opening the bag is also inaccurate unless you open the backpack while it is standing horizontal (which I actually tested and still didn't experience the same results) or face down (which is pretty ridiculous).

I brought those two claims up because they were the only reasons making me hesitant on the purchase, but believe me, the bag's worth every penny to protect your gear and leave you lots of space.

Customer Review: For the money, it's a no-brainer.
Summary: 5 Stars

The 200EG is a great camera bag, period. At $35, it's an absolute steal.

My working Canon 20d kit has outgrown several bags in the last year. Last time around, I tried the 200EG, the larger Lowepro Slingshot (AW200) for twice the price, and the Kata R-102 for 4 times as much. I kept the 200EG, and the choice had little to do with cost.

Others have described the 200EG. I'll only add that I'm still baffled by the volume of gear that disappears into such a small, lightweight package. Keeping padding down to a safe minimum is probably part of the trick.

The well-made R-102 has many admirable design features but is padded to a fault. The resulting stiffness and external bulk make it much harder to handle and much less malleable, but then what do you expect from a body armor manufacturer?

The Slingshot is also well designed and well made. If it had the capacity I need, I might have kept it, but at that point, I wasn't about to return the 200EG. It's just too darn handy.

Can't think of a thing I'd change about the EG200 for my shooting needs. For the money, it's a no-brainer.

Customer Review: Great, Sturdy Bag
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this bag a few months ago and have found it to be a great investment. I can carry my dslr, several lenses, and still have room to spare for lens hoods, etc. There are also zippered pockets in the main area for remotes, filters, and memory cards. Two additional zippered areas can fit a netbook computer or other materials. There is also room for a water bottle, sunscreen, a snack and more.

The bag is also very sturdy and balances the weight so that I can carry a heavy load without it straining my back and shoulders. The bag has also survived a few downpours without getting so much as a drop on my equipment. The only downside is that the shoulder straps are a little wide for a female but are forgotten about after I have it on for awhile.

As for the zipper issue that others have talked about, I just keep the zippers down at one side or another then I never have to worry about it coming open. I do this with all backpacks because I never trust double zippers.

I would strongly reccomend this bag for anyone looking for an affordable, sturdy, reliable backpack for their camera or other electronic equipment.

Customer Review: A no-brainer at this price
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an excellent camera bag at just under $40. Even if you don't use it for walking or hiking, it makes a wonderful storage and travel bag. It is well padded and fairly ruggedly constructed.

There's more than enough room for a large telephoto, several zooms, flashes, cards, etc.

My biggest complaint is that it "wears" rather small for me, and probably will for anyone over 5'10". The bag sits a little too high on the back. Also, the chest strap has loops that "ride" over the shoulder straps, and they don't like to stay put. I've abandoned using them altogether.

My 2nd biggest complaint is that it is not convenient to carry water with this pack. I hesitate to carry them in interior pockets due to the possibility of leakage, and the exterior pockets aren't big enough or well suited to water bottles.

In spite of the very non-technical design, I've done 5-8 miles at a time with this pack, with just a bit of soreness in the shoulders from the straps.

I like the pack so much I bought a spare for when this one wears out! It gets 5 stars for the build quality and amazing price.
