I didn't read the description carefully enough to see that this is from a kit that the vendor sometimes ships with camera bodies, so the lens is not in a box. That made me worry, when I got it, that it was actually a refurb. That would explain that much lower than usual price for this item. But when I checked with the company, expecting to get ignored, they were very helpful in explaining the situation and very willing to swap or refund if I wasn't satisfied. I will have no hesitation buying from them again just on the strength of the customer support.
And maybe I should mention that the lens takes nice pictures, too. :)
