Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS SLR LensCustomer Review: Great starter lens Summary: 5 Stars
I replaced my kit lens 18-55mm lens with IS lens, to reduce some of "blurred" shots. And it has. Now, granted I still get few but that's due to non-ideal environments.
For those who are starting out into this arena, this lens is a good choice.
I would also recomment the 55-250mm IS lens by Canon.
With these two lens, any one starting out will have lots of fun.
Customer Review: Vastly improved from older lens 18-55 Summary: 5 Stars
This is the newer model 18-55 IS--It's a better lens all around. Fast autofocus and up to four stops of image stabilization means sharper images even in low light and without flash. Good price too. I haven't tested it yet, just made lots of pics. Websites devoted to extensive testing rate this lens as sharp across the board. Get it along the Canon DSLR you're considering.
Customer Review: Canon 18-55mm f3.5-4.6 IS from Camera Video World Summary: 5 Stars
This little kit lens fit the focal length range I needed most for my 40D. (I bought the 40D with a 28-135 kit lens, but I needed a lens that goes to a bit wider than 28mm.) It's also nice to have a compact lens to use when ou know you won't need telephoto. The price from Camera Video Store was great, and they threw in a haze filter to boot. The shipping was on time.
Customer Review: Great lens for the price! Summary: 5 Stars
Image stabilization for under $200? Awesome. I read reviews about the kit lens being pretty bad but found nothing but good news about this "replacement". It works great with my Rebel XTi and for an all-around starter lens, look no further. Images come out crisp and clear. I'm new to dslr cameras but the Rebel Xti and this lens are a perfect match so far. Love it.
Customer Review: Canon 18-55mm lens with IS Summary: 5 Stars
This lens was my first with image stabilization. My first picture with it was 1/10 second at F/5.6 hand held at 55mm with a Rebel XT.
The picture was sharp and clear. At least a 3 F stop gain with IS turned on. The performance of this lens has me looking at other more expensive lenses with IS as it appears to be worth the money.
