This is my first camcorder. I did a lot of research before the purchase, and I figured the extra $$$ to go HD is worth it with this camera. The only downside is the need for a powerful computer to be able to edit the footage in a reasonable fashion and time frame.
Easy to use, lots of fun, even for an amateur like me.

I have had this camcorder for about a month now and have used it to record kids football games and school programs. It does equally well outdoors and in lower light conditions indoors. The image quality is outstanding on a hi-def TV and the inexpensive media is a great way to store uncompressed video. No regrets.Customer Review: Worth The $

This bad boy is worth the $. You can save yourself some cash by going w/ this one as opposed to the newer HV30 and HV40. I film concerts w/ it, and the results have been phenomenal. Also includes an external microphone jack, which is critical when filming at loud events. Worth the $$!!Customer Review: Amazing HV20 !!

This camcorder have every thing you want it in a consumer camcorder. except the problem with the motor noise every other thing are amazing: video quality, image stabilizer, output ports, size, weight and zoom ... etc

Canon HV20 excellent camera, easy to operate, and gives a very sharp image, unfortunately Canon does not supply editing software for High Definition HDV, the editing software that is available costs over $800 and it is impossible to produce HDV DVD's in a home computer.
