Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon I-9900 Photo PrinterCustomer Review: Wow just doesn't say enough... Summary: 5 Stars
My last printer was a Canon 7000 which has worked wonderfully for many years now but it takes forever in comparison to print out a full page 300dpi image (almost 10 minutes!). Since I wanted something faster and had great luck with Canon I thought I would stick with them. I looked at each of their consumer printers and like what I saw with the i9900. When I got it I printed several pictures and was just awestruck by the quality of the images printed. After that I wanted to see exactly how detalied a picture it could print out. So I put the digital camera on the tripod and zoomed out as far as I could (optically). I took a series of overlapping photos and then put them together in Photoshop to make one huge photo. I printed it out at 600dpi and was even more amazed!! It was like looking at the same scene in reality. I have never seen such incredible clarity from a printer before. This was even printed out on the "Kirkland Signature? Glossy Photo Paper 125 Sheets" from Costco (about $19).
Customer Review: Large format color greatness Summary: 5 Stars
I was skeptical at first having owned mostly HP printers, but the reviews were overwhelmingly in the Cannon's favor, I was not dissapointed. I use this printer as my everyday printer and it now doubles as the company's photo printer when only the best will do. The day to day results are just fine and fairly quick especially printing out project schedules on 11x17. The photo results are spectacular and we will be using the printer to produce 13x19 prints that will be framed and hung on the wall in our reception area. The glossy papers give incredible results, though care in handling is needed as the ink takes a while to dry. Our results on matt photo paper have also been great and the ink is dry almost imediately. The printer has been in use for more than two months and I have only replaced the yellow ink tank, at this rate I think it is a bit more economical than the standard HP type cartridge setup. If high quality images beyond 8 1/2 x 11 are what you need, this is the tool for the job.
Customer Review: Consultant Chooses i9900 Canon and adds it to a new dual core P4 workstation Summary: 5 Stars
I am an instructor for the Department of Veterans Affairs and do consultation and training as well. My client is a film Photographer who wanted a high end system at a low price. I put to together a 3 Gig Dual Core P-4 Dell 9100 XPS and a LaCie flat screen CRT and a 17 inch dell LCD Monitor. I got the Blue Eye Calibration system by Lacie and then added a Minolta Scanner.
After calibration of the monitor I scanned four photos and printed them out on the i9900 Canon and the color on the monitor and the output of the printer were exactly matched. This gave the client a feeling that he had confidence that when it looked good to him on the LaCie and printed it It was a match every-time.
My Clint and I are very happy with the wide format Canon and the 8 tank color system by Canon that looks better than the Photo labs in our community, Plus we can print wide and oversized for shows and displays of his beautiful photos here on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Customer Review: I Can Sum This Up With One Word -- WOW!!! Summary: 5 Stars
The Canon i9900 made me love to print again. I had been a pretty loyal Epson user -- my latest printer was the Epson 1270. But after wasting a lot of expensive paper and ink on a regular basis futzing around with clogged print heads and other Epson issues, I started looking around to see what else was now out there. I researched and researched and researched. I finally settled on the i9900 and it was just like everyone said -- very easy to set up; everything worked right out of the box; and the pictures are stunning.
The Canon i9900 made me love to print again. I've dropped more than a hundred dollars on Canon paper and it's some of the best money I've ever spent. Once you see the finished product everything becomes worth it -- the money you spend on your camera gear, the time you invest waiting for the perfect shot, the countless hours you pour over your PC cropping and editing -- it's worth it. The Canon i9900 made me love to print again.
Customer Review: beautiful, economical, I own two. Summary: 5 Stars
I got the i9900 a few years ago on Amazon and liked it so much I bought another one used on Ebay. I refill my own tanks with ink from [...] and have never had to even run a cleaning cycle. I especially like the fact that the tanks have no chip and are very inexpensive. I have purcased only Canon tanks and installed nylon screws in the filling holes to allow for easy filling. I keep a spare set of tanks at all times and never let them get to low or run dry. I had one printer repaired (surge tank) and was told by the tech person that this printer is easy to repair and the parts are very reasonably priced. Since I fill my own, I purchased a spare printhead as a precaution but I have never had to use it. As I own a Canon 5D, I do a lot of 13 by 19 printing and have never had any problems. Prints are sharp even up close. Just remember to use the printer at least once a week. I rotate the two printers every few months to keep them in shape.
