Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon I-9900 Photo PrinterCustomer Review: This Printer Solves All My Problems with Epson Summary: 5 Stars
I have a lot of problems with my Epson Stylus Photo 1280 printer. First of all, it is very selective on printer papers. I can not get good result on a wide range of papers including presentation papers in various brands. The ink is buit-up on presentation paper and I cannot print it in both sides. The color is hard and rough in gross photo papers from generic brands or brands other than Epson. Secondly, the print head get dirty easily. Even after cleaning several times, I still get uneven colors.
So I decide to buy this Canon i9900 to replace the Epson 1280. I made the choice based on my test on a $49 low-end Canon printer, and based on my experience with other Canon products including camera and scaner. My decision is right. The printer works great and I do not have those Epson prolems any more.
In addition, I find the preview function is very useful. It saves me a lot of print papers and time as well.
Customer Review: It doesn't get any better than this! Summary: 5 Stars
I've had my i9900 for about a year and have had nary a hiccup whatsoever. I've printed out hundreds of photos in all sizes on various papers; outstanding results! The only "complaint" I have is that it sucks down the photo magenta and photo cyan inks faster than the other inks but hey, with the results it produces, that's trivial.
I noticed that a few of the one and two star reviews seemed to be written by those who have no idea how to either follow instructions or take the time to get to know the hardware. Granted, maybe some got hold of a bad production unit; Canon manufactures superb electronics but they're not perfect (but pretty close). One low rating was because it didn't come with a USB or Fire Wire cable. I've never bought a printer that included this so take these low ratings with a grain of salt.
I would without hesitation recommend this printer for anyone who wants superb, lab-level results.
Customer Review: Great printer! Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great printer, I'm very pleased with it. It's fast and prints beautiful photos. The setup was very quick and easy and it comes with some nice software for printing and organizing photos. I wanted a wide-format printer to print 12" X 12" scrapbook pages on and it works great for that purpose. I have used both Canon and Epson papers on it and they both work beautifully.
Another nice feature of this printer is the individual ink tanks. This printer replaced an Epson which used a color ink cartridge which had to be replaced rather frequently. At $25 per cartridge it got expensive! With the individual ink tanks you can replace the colors individually as they run out. I have also had no problem with clogged ink heads which was a constant problem with the Epson.
I would recommend this printer wholdheartedly! Amazon's service was also great. I received the printer within 2 days of ordering it!
Customer Review: Does not disappoint Summary: 5 Stars
This printer is phenomenal! Print speed is incredible--printed 4x6 prints in 33seconds, and I didn't appreciate significant noise during the process. Colors are vibrant and resolution is crisp. Set up was effortless, at least in my opinion. Also nice to see that Canon included some 4x6 pro paper inside.
Upon arrival from UPS, the box did sustain significant damage during delivery. I was a bit worried, but no printer damage was visible. Kudo's to Canon for doing a great job on packing.
Cost is high, but I've already invested a significant amount of $$$ into my digital equipment. After all is done, its the print that ultimately matters.
The size of the printer is rather large. My HP Laserjet ended up going on the floor to accomodate the Canon printer.
Overall, I have been very happy with the printer and can't say that I have any complaints or concerns at this time.
Customer Review: Fast, quiet, economical and superb quality...what else do you need? Summary: 5 Stars
First of all, let me tell you I have been an Epson fan for many years, having bought and used at least half a dozen models over the last 10 years or so. I will also tell you I have a near-new Epson 2200 sitting gathering dust on a shelf because the Canon i9900 just flat blows it away.
Without going into a lot of detail, I could not get the "flagship" Epson 2200 to provide the results I needed for my particular application. With the investment I made, believe me when I tell you I tried every possible combination I could think of including calling Epson for advice. No luck. The Canon i9900 on the other hand provided excellent results right out of the box. After about 6 months of using this machine I have no negative comments...it's as good a printer as you are going to find its class. As the saying goes, if you can find a better printer, buy it. But don't waste your time, this is the one you want.
