I tried a local ink refill place once, and the cartridge failed (and I didn't want to go back and argue with them). So, I buy the brand name. If you use Amazon's "subscribe & save" feature, then the price comes down even more...to the point that it's not worth your time to drive to the refill place and wait for them. Check-out Amazon's "subscribe & save" service...you can change the interval as needed, skip a shipment, have an extra shipment sent, and cancel at anytime...all with no penalties...and it's the best price.

The price at Amazon was the best I could find at the time I was shopping for this product. I have decided that using anything other than genuine ink products made by the company that made the printer (no matter which brand) could contribute to my printers not lasting as long as I think they should! What I do like about Amazon shopping is no shipping and handling over $25 in purchases and no state tax and I do factor that in when doing my comparison shopping. Canon printers use color ink during rebooting, and eventually the color ink runs out. That's what happened with my printer, even though I've never printed in color. When there was a message "Printer out of ink", I assumed it was black ink. I installed the black ink cartridge. No luck. Then I looked carefully at that small and difficult to read picture, and realized the message was about the color ink. I'd advise users of Canon printers not to turn the printer on and off as it wastes color ink even if you never print in color.Customer Review: Canon ink pack user

I love the Canon printer. The real cost is in the ink toner cartridges,as we know.
But the price was great and buying the 2-packs saves you time and money overall.
Hint: when it comes time to print watch the dialogue box come up and print the information at a higher speed. It will use less ink overall,but you ill have to give up some clarity.purchased thru Amazon wil save you money.
Finally, when you print,you will still use Black,even when the images are photos.

I took a chance once (and never again) on ink cartridge replacements for our Canon printer/copier from a seller on eBay and they were absolutely the worst! As a result, I searched for the best deal on "real" Canon cartridges and found it on Amazon with a subscription package at an excellent price. It's so easy to order and they last so much longer than the ones that are Canon "replacements"! Nothing like the real deal at a great price and Amazon came through again!!!
