My printer is less than an year old and I use it for regular and Photo priting. Initially I felt the alternative brand was cheaper but when you compare the quaility and quantity its worth going with the original.

1 Tank = 11$, 2 Tanks = 22$
Cannon I got 2 Tanks for 29.04 -22 = 7.04 (This is worth guaranteed quaility, free shipping and the orginal catridges have extra ink + good quaility photos.)

With my previous inkjet, I used bargain cartridges and pretty well got what I paid for. They ran out quickly, skipped and in general were a pain. When I got my Canon, I vowed to just suck it up and only use genuine Canon cartridges. Now my printer is a thing of joy. It always works well, reliably tells me when it is out of ink and is pretty much trouble free. I consider OEM cartridges a worthwhile investment. The cartridges are OEM from Canon. The reason Amazon is on top and recommended is because after my search of several companies selling the same product Amazon came up far in first place having the best prices.
When everything is even, price difference makes a big point.
The only thing is one must order when one is not in a hurry. In order to get free shipping, delivery takes almost a whole week longer.
Suggest planning and get rewarded with better prices.

Everytime I've purchased any Canon ink cartridge, and I've purchased well over a hundred bargain brand's and Canon's, I've been extremely pleased with:
o no clogging,
o quality print,
o page count per cartridge printing,
o every cartridge printing when installed
The only negative would be their high pricing, but I guess it proves the old axiom "you get what you pay for".

Canon PGI-5 Black Pigment Ink Tanks are fully compatible with Canon printers using the 26ml tank size. I use my printer for everything from letters to graphics to printing digital photo prints and the quality is just fine. The tanks themselves are the snap-in, snap-out variety and I have never had a failure with the tanks themselves. This type is a little expensive but highly recommended as a good buy for general use.
