Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon PIXMA MX330 Inkjet All-In-One PrinterCustomer Review: Good printer for the price Summary: 4 Stars
I've had this printer for a few months now. So far I really like it. It scans and prints beautifully. (I've never used the fax -- who faxes anything these days?)
Pros:
--Easy to use. I use mine for photocopying a lot, and it only takes 2 buttons to photocopy something. No need to use the computer at all. Brilliant. Quality is similar to a decent photocopier.
--Prints quickly and easily. No fussing.
--Sturdy. Doesn't seem to have any issues printing even with my 6 lb cat standing on it poking her paw down in the paper feed (note: yes, I do try to stop her).
Cons:
-- Makes enough noise to wake the dead. Or attract said cat every time I go to print something.
-- Eats ink. I estimate you'll get about 60-75 pages of black and white before running out of ink with the smaller cartridge. The good news is that cartridges are more expensive than the printer, so you can totally justify buying a new printer every time you run out of ink.
-- DOES NOT COME WITH USB A-B CABLE USED TO CONNECT TO COMPUTER. This really ticked me off, as I had to run back to the store for it, and ended up not buying it there because it was $25 there (I got it for $3 here at Amazon). So I couldn't use it as a printer right away. It does, however, come with a telephone cable for the fax machine aspect you'll never use.
All-in-all it's a good all around printer, but nothing stellar. If you can find it on sale, go for it.
Customer Review: Nice Job Canon Summary: 4 Stars
My old Canon Pixma MP830 began to act up & streak after about 4 years of use; it's not cost efficient to think about getting one repaired so I started looking around at replacement machines. The MP830 had been a great machine but used 5 ink cartridges that cost about $70.00. I utilize all aspects so I needed another printer/ scanner / copier / fax. I found the MX330, read reviews and purchased it for less than the cost of 5 ink cartridges. It is easy to use, pretty fast and only uses 2 ink cartridges that will cost substantially less than I'm used to. Print speed is not quite as fast as my old, more expensive MP830 but it has some upgraded featues due to improvements in technology that my old one didn't. I can attach a scanned file to an email without saving it first, that's huge for me.
I'm partial to Canon printers but this one is tough to beat; every component works well. Print quality is good, PDF's from the scanner are crisp and clear, the copier is quick and also clear and the fax works well. Overall, this was a very good purchase for me.
Customer Review: It works pretty fair. Summary: 4 Stars
Bought this back in Sept or Oct and it has been a pretty good printer for what I use it for. I don't print everyday so the ink tanks that came with it are about a 1/3 rd full. Some say it makes whirling sounds when getting ready to print and it is a little noisy, does take a minute or so to warm up to scan, makes some racket when printing and it does have a fairly large footprint, but for the 70.00 or 80.00 I paid for it, it has worked out pretty good. I'm getting used to using the different help services that are avail when you download the software to your PC and it's ok. I'm going to use the XL option for ink from now on as one can't really beat the price of the XL type tanks considering how much more come in the tanks. All in all, I like the printer. The fax option helped to collect over 500.00 dollars that was owed to me by using it to send off important documents to certain companies so that in itself has made it VERY handy. I don't know how long this printer will last, but so far..we're good to go.
Customer Review: Good buy for the price Summary: 4 Stars
After reading a lot of the reviews for this machine, I decided to purchase it. We wanted a fax machine with a sheet feeder and flatbed scanner capability, but the only ones available with these features are an all-in-one fax. At this price point, I feel like it is a good value. Yes, it does eat up a lot of ink, but I guess Canon has to make money somehow. I consider myself pretty computer savvy, but I still cannot manage to figure out how to make it print a report after each fax. The one big negative, is that for some reason, the fax does not pick up on "telelphone priority mode." It became infuriating when it wouldn't pick up after the 3rd try. It finally picked up when I put it on "fax priority." Since we know when we are receiving faxes, it is not a problem to switch it to fax priority mode, but I wish the "telephone priority" mode would work, as it states in the manual. I am pleased with the print quality. Overall, I would recommend it for the home user with occasional fax needs.
Customer Review: Great buy! Summary: 4 Stars
This is the second Canon printer I've purchased. The first was a Pixma MP500. The PIXMA MX330 has more features and only uses two ink cartidges (compared to five for the MP500). Immediately, there is a savings in the cost of replacement ink. The MX330 is truly a full featured, all-in-one printer. While others may make that claim, the MX330 copies, prints, scans, and faxes. Most other "all-in-one" printers do not fax. While "fax" technology may be starting toward the horizon, many businesses like to send and receive fax documents (legal firms, insurance agencies, etc.) so it is a nice feature to have. The only drawback is the noise. When it prepares to print it clunks and bangs and makes all other noises. Frankly, I don't know what it's doing. I just hope the neighbors don't take up a petition to have me charged with some obscure violation of community noise laws. Other than that, it is an excellent addition to any home office.
