Customer Review: How to make it fit the SD940 IS
Summary: 4 Stars

I recently replaced my SD300 with the SD940IS. I had the Canon leather case for the SD300, and it was perfect for it. I wanted the same thing for my SD940IS, and this is the case that Canon's site pointed me to. After reading the reviews, I was worried it wasn't going to fit, but it was so cheap, that I decided to give it a try.

When the case arrived, I was disappointed to find, like others, that the case didn't close properly for the SD940IS without a lot of effort. I was also disappointed that this case differed from my old SD300 case in two ways: the hole for the cord to go through is smaller, making it more difficult to thread the cord through, and there is no clasp, only invisible magnets.

However, I was able to make this case work. I mixed 1 part water with 3 parts isopropyl alcohol and sprayed it all over the outside of the case. Then I pushed the camera in as far as I could and pulled the flap down as far as I could, and left it there for a day. Problem solved. Now the case works perfectly. The camera slips in and the flap flaps down onto the magnet like it's supposed to, without having to be pulled. I don't even have to pull strap through the hole.

Customer Review: Great case, but...
Summary: 4 Stars

I'm currently using this case with my Canon PowerShot SD780IS. It fits perfectly and offers good protection.

Just one gripe:

As you know, this has a magnetic closure.
Here is the problem I had: The outside of the case, specifically the area in and around the silver metal Canon logo portion of the flap is also magnetized. Strong enough to stick on a fridge door (without the camera inside). This obviously could pose a problem. It can inadvertently demagnetized other things that come in contact with it. Such as, things with magnetic stripes, like credit cards. I placed this in a jacket pocket along with a small subway ticket. It kept demagnetizing it and I kept getting the ticket replaced. I didn't realize that the flap was demagnetizing my ticket until my second replacement. My camera has come in contact with the magnets but have not damaged anything. (Maybe because the electronics inside are not magnetically sensitive?)

Anyway, just a word of caution.

Customer Review: Snug fit, nice leather
Summary: 4 Stars

It fits the 780IS perfectly of course. The magnetic clasp is secure enough to hold the camera inside if it falls, but quick to release when you pull it open. The leather is soft, and the interior side is suede-like and gentle on the camera's screen. Removing the camera from the case is cumbersome with the strap through the top hole, but passing the strap through the side (under the top) still secures the camera while letting one pull the camera out by the wrist strap. The belt loop is tightly sewn, and as useful as any other. The case is protective, not ideal for quick removals, but it works.

Customer Review: Good purchase
Summary: 4 Stars

I really like the magnet closure. No fumbling with snaps or whatever. The only thing I'd change about this (and probably most camera cases) is it's very difficult to whip out the camera for a shot when the camera's wrist loop is threaded through the case's hole. To make for easier removal, I'd make the hole more of a slit through half the case top.

Customer Review: Good Case For Canon 780IS
Summary: 4 Stars

This case was designed for the Canon 780IS. I wouldn't recommend buying this if you do not have that camera. At first I thought the case might not be big enough even for that small camera, but it worked perfectly. The case keeps the camera very tight and protected. It is a little challenging to slide the camera in and out of the case though.
