Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon PSC-4000 Deluxe Leather Case for Canon SX10IS and SX1IS Digital CamerasCustomer Review: Canon's Case for the SX10IS and SX1IS Summary: 3 Stars
I purchased a SX1IS along with this case. If you want it to protect your camera while in transport, it will probably be just fine. Its quality of construction is very good. The issues I have with it follow: 1) There is no separate storage area available for the remote control that comes with the SX1IS, the remote has fallen out several times already and thankfully people saw it fall and warned me. 2) Obviously, no storage for extra batteries (very necessary if shooting movies). 3) It has a belt loop on the back to attach it to your belt, but due to the lens length, the case stick out too far (for my tastes, it may be ok for you). I would have like the case to have its own shoulder strap. You have to use the camera's strap but when you take the camera out to use, you have to hand carry the case, set it down, or give it to your partners to hold.
If they had made it a little wider for small storage compartment and had a shoulder strap, this would be excellent.
Customer Review: Be sure this is what you want! Summary: 3 Stars
Pros: Well made. Protects camera (SX10is) well. Good looking.
Cons: No shoulder strap. No pockets for memory cards, batteries, etc.
I made the mistake of purchasing this camera bag for our Canon SX10is. At the time, I wanted something small and didn't care too much about all kinds of pockets and add-ons. I also made the mistake of thinking that the camera strap would serve just fine as other reviewers have mentioned. Now I realize that I should have thought about it more especially when my camera uses four AA batteries and I'm always worried about where I leave the camera bag.
This is all irrelevant if you only want to carry an extra memory card or something very small. It is a well made, good looking camera case. It is just not what I should have purchased. I have now ordered a Lowepro Rezo 110AW that I hope will serve me better. I cannot rate this bag harshly for not being what I now want it to be.
Customer Review: Some good, some bad Summary: 3 Stars
The good: It fits the camera nicely without a lot of extra bulk. It is very soft protective material inside. It utilizes the camera strap instead of having its own.
The bad: It doesn't have the pouch inside for a spare SD card and set of spare batteries like the case for the Canon S5 had. Also, not as big a deal as the pouch is that in addition to the zippers on the sides, it has 2 little magnetic closure things like some cell phone cases have. They never seem to line up correctly so that they engage each other and don't hold well. Nothing but the zippers or a piece of velcro would be better.
All-in-all, I would have given it 5 stars if it had a pouch/pocket either inside or out for 1 spare SD and 1 spare set of AA batteries. Now you will have to carry them separately.
Customer Review: Good For What It Is But Not Much More Summary: 3 Stars
This case is useful only as a means to protect the camera when you have it sitting on a shelf. It is not useful as a portable container for the camera when walking about. With a Canon SX20IS, the fit is very tight -- which is to say the lens hood needs to be turned backwards to even get the camera into the case (and even then the slight projection of the hood on the front of the lens makes the fit extra tight). And, if you happen to use a lens cap retainer, the small button that attaches to the lens cap makes the fit into the case a definite challenge. For a company that excels in the quality and value of its cameras, Canon sure did drop the ball with this case. A better buy would be one of the excellent cases made by Case Logic - like one of the holster models.
Customer Review: In case you need one Summary: 3 Stars
This is a fine case for the Canon SX1 IS. I use it mostly for storage and not for transport. It will not accommodate the camera with the lens hood on. If you need a case to keep your camera from getting dusty this will work just fine. I would not rely on it as the sole protection bouncing around in a pack. Upon reflection my needs would have probably been better served by a small Pelican case that would carry the camera with the lens hood on, a couple of filters, a spare set of batteries, and a card or two.
