Customer Review: Okay for storage, bad for shooting

This case is a real disappointment.
The biggest problem is that the camera fits too snugly and it is difficult to get out of the case. One of the reasons that I bought a G10 was because I wanted to be able to take pictures quickly and inconspicuously. I did not expect that Canon's case would require a struggle to remove the camera.
Another drawback is that the case does not have a strap of it's own. It does have a small loop which is presumably meant to go around the G10 strap. That doesn't work too well because the loop fits too snugly (again) around the G10 strap. Therefore, once you extract the camera you now have a bulky case jammed up against the side of the camera impeding it's use. The loop is too small for the case to easily slide away from the camera.
This case was not cheap at $30. I was expecting more.
Other comments:
There is no sleeve or storage pocket for cards, lens paper, etc.
The case is compact, nice looking and great for minimal protection while transporting the camera. It just is not at all functional as a case to be used while shooting.
I feel there must be a better case out there. My seach continues...

I bought this intending to carry a canon G11 on my belt on trips. A good belt pouch should allow the user to whip out the camera and put it away quickly and effortlessly. But it does not work very well because it fits too tightly around the camera. Perhaps it would loosen up after a while, but the felt backing may also wear out due to repeated friction.
It would work better if it is slightly roomier so the camera can slide in and out without force. There is no hole at the bottom of the case to allow the user to poke the camera out, so like it or not, the user must put the neck strap on the camera and use it to pull the camera out.
Otherwise, it looks to be a well made and good looking case.

Great quality, but the neck strap doesn't fit in it at all. So is very difficult to close it with the neck strap in it. Also, the camara just have room for itself, so is very difficult to take it out when you need it very fast. Be gentel with the camera.
Also, it brings and extra belt, that I don`t know what is it for yet.
For the other hand, is good looking belt case from Canon.

Background: I normally shoot with one of three Canon's ... The XTI, 40D or 5D Mark II. Yes, I'm an accomplished photojournalist.
I purchased this case for the Canon G-11. WRONG. While it will fit the camera, the case is so snug that to get it out is a two handed chore.... at best. And forget getting it out for a quick snapshot.
The case is of high quality and if sized for the Canon G-11, it could be a 5 star. As is, no stars, especially if you plan to carry the camera on a belt as I had planned to do. Even worse fitr for the G-12
Kudos's to Amazon for the no hassle return policy though.
Recommendation: I purchased Lowepro G-Res 10 Camera Pouch for Canon G10 and Canon G11. More protection for the camera, $15, and can be carried on a strap (included) or worn on the belt.

I own the Canon G10 which is great. This is the case recommended, but I would not recommend it. Too snug of a fit (shouldn't have to use a shoe horn to get the camera in). No pockets for extra cards
