I have owned this printer for over a year now. I have never had any problems with it. My wife and I are both in school, so it gets a lot of use. I have never had to replace the color ink cartridges, and only replaced the black one once so far. It is great on ink, especially if you use the "fast draft" option. It is all you really need anyway, unless you are printing pictures. We have printed pictures up to 8x10 inches, and they look really good. The scanning function is really nice too. We have been able to archive a lot of family photos to the computer, then put them on a DVD slide show, and it has been wonderful for our family. I especially love being able to replace each color cartridge individually. I think it saves money and the environment.
I researched a lot prior to buying this, and I am happy with it...I just wish it was wireless...

I have been an HP printer guy but after reading reviews the MP520 looked like a great printer. It is. I se it for scanning documents a lot and it does that very well. The included software lets you save a jpg or pdf (probably other options) - but I like the ability to save as a multi page pdf.
I did not use my last printer for photos a lot but I bought some canon photo paper and find my self using for photos a lot - and they look great.
The ink seems to be relatively low priced and it has five separate ink tanks (two blacks - one for color and one for black only). The software did tell me I was almost out of black probably 200 sheets before I was out and told me I was out 50-100 sheets early.

The printer arrived in seven days with free super saver shipping and we started using immediately.
The setup was easy and took very little time. It warms up quickly,prints fast, and the photo copies are excellent. I really like the option of using the front or back paper loader and the little window on the printer lets you know what's happening while you're printing.
I'm not terribly computer savvy nor good with setting up things, but this really was easy and I'm very happy I bought this printer last weekend.
I highly recommend this printer.

Canon Pixma MP520 Photo All-On-One Inkjet Printer (2178B002) I read the great reviews on this printer and was convinced, this is a winner. I'm a novice in this world of computers, printers, and such, but I'm learning fast. I worried a bit about setting up this printer by myself but it was very easy, just followed the simple directions and it works great, prints and copies quickly. Haven't tried to print photos yet. This printer is perfect but your probably saying why.
Let me explain.
1)First of all this printer uses ink tanks. Not ink cardtriges. So what do you get? You get ink that lasts almost forever compared to the other one. Get this one instead of the cheaper model. Your going to save money thanks to the ink.
2)The ink tanks on this lasts forever compared to the ink cartrigdes.
In all I you want an effienct, fast, printer and scanner loaded with quality and features look no further.
