Customer Review: Parts haven't fallen off yet...

Unlike the other multi-function printer from the leading brand, whose acronymn should stand for Horrible Printers, this printer's parts haven't fallen off after several days use.
So far I am pleased with the rich features and the print/scan quality. I should've given it 4 stars as I have used it only about a month now. Need to see the durability of this product. Also it seems a bit noisy. But nothing that really bothers me. The startup time is a bit longer than the other brand. But again no big deal there.
The bottom line is durability and reliability which is yet to be seen.
If it is anything like other Canon products, I am sure to be a happy customer.

I WAS PLEASED FOR THE FIRST YEAR AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT STOPPED RECEIVING AND FAXING OUT. I WENT THROUGH ALL OF THE STEPS WITH CANON AND WAS TOLD IT HAD TO BE THE MODEM INSIDE THAT HAD GONE BAD. THEY OFFERED ME A DISCOUNT ON A NEW ONE WHICH I DECLINED. I SPENT A LOT ON THIS ONLY TO FIND OUT IF IT WAS MORE THAN A YEAR OLD IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. GETTING THE MODEM FIXED WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY COSTLY. SO I NOW HAVE A PIECE OF JUNK, ALOT OF MONEY TIED UP IN IT, AND FAX DOESN'T WORK. I WASN'T ABOUT TO PUT ANOTHER PENNY INTO THIS PIECE OF JUNK. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. COME TO FIND OUT THIS IS NOT UNUSUAL FOR CANON TO HAVE THESE TYPES OF PROBLEMS.Customer Review: Does it all

I really like this printer, my first non-HP in a long while. I researched an insane amount on CNet, Amazon and other sites. I haven't tested out the fax capabilities yet, but it does everything else well. My favorite feature is when I scan old photographs, I can do several at once and it knows to create separate image files for each, saving me time. I've printed a few digital photos. Photo quality is slightly grainy, but I need to play around with the settings to see if I can improve that. It's definitely better on Canon paper, however. Print/copy quality and speed is fantastic. If you are looking for a solid all-in-one, I'd highly recommend this.Customer Review: Excellent product, great quality, easy to use

I previously had a printer and a separate flatbed scanner. Once I had to send about 20 pages and it took me over 30 minutes to scan everything into the printer and assemble it for faxing. With this new all-in-one, I just put the stack of paper in the machine, type the phone number, and walk away. Very nice!
It's amazing the first time you print 2-sided. The paper comes out, then an invisible force pulls it back into the machine and prints the back side.
I've copied pages out of a bound book by laying it on the glass, as well as used the paper tray. Print quality is fantastic. This little machine really does it all.
Customer Review: you might want to order a cable

I thought others might want to know that this printer doesn't come with a USB cable. So if you don't have an extra already, you'll need to purchase a USB A/USB B cable separately. Their documentation says that it should be "less than 10 ft./3m." (You'd think I'd have scads of these kicking around the house, but when I really needed one I ended up having to cannibalize my old printer!)
Also, I haven't been able to get this printer to work across my Airport Express wireless network. In fairness to Canon, I haven't talked to their tech support about this, but after a 1.75 hours on the phone with Applecare, I've given up trying.
