Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon Pixma MP530 Office All-In-One Inkjet Photo Printer

Customer Review: Wonderful!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been looking at getting a printer/fax/scanner for some time now. And after researching for many months, I settled on this one.
This has superceeded my expectations, plus! It scans photos wonderfully, but a little too good. I have some old photos that have a matte finish and somehow the scanner amplifies the pimples on the photo paper.

As far as faxing, it's took some figuring out. But come to find out, Vonage phone service has problems with sending out faxes and read somewhere that if you enter *99 1 (area code) then the number, it will send the fax. Which I found vry useful, but only had two faxes that were unable to send even using that little trick. But it's my phone line and has nothing to do with the fax machine itself.

The prints are amazing!! I've printed out some photos from this and I was just blown away by how much they looked like a photo. I'm very impressed with this overall.

Lastly, the main reason why I purchased this, was when replacing the ink cartridges, it's seperate colors. Granted in the end, it may be a little moe money to buy the cartridges instead of buying a cartidge that has all the colors, but this will save me money by not having to replace 3 colors and only the one I need at that given moment.

I truly recommend this product to anyone! I have a Canon PS S2 digital camera and I am pleased with how my camera takes photos, I knew I wouldn't be dissapointed with this product. They have gained a Canon customer for life!!

Customer Review: Great multi-function
Summary: 5 Stars

After testing the MP530 for a few days I can say that I am very pleased with this machine. Canon did a great job with the MP530, nicely balancing the quality of and thereby the value offered by each of its components. The setup of each function is often different and therefore awkward. For example, the if you want to copy something and there is no paper in the Auto Feed tray (in the back), you have to manually switch (by pressing a button) to the Cassette. I guess it would have been nice if Canon had included sensors for the two different input bays, something my similarly priced single function HP printer has.

The print quality is, as others have mentioned before me, excellent. You can't beat the one picoliter technology that Canon offers. The fax setup with the phone line connection took a few tries to figure it out (the manual can be confusing at times), but I got it to work without having to call tech support.

Another plus (which is coincidentally also a negative), the MP530 is so quiet that you could have it operating in your bedroom without any kind of disturbance. However, if you are like me and you want to get something from the kitchen while a large picture is printing, you'd listen to hear if the machine is ready. Once I step away from the unit, ambient noise simply drowns out the noise from the printhead.

I can't judge ink consumption yet, but since this is an inkjet unit, I would recommend this machine only for small and home offices.

Customer Review: Multi-function printer
Summary: 5 Stars

I was mostly looking for a scanner/printer that was under a hundred dollars when I found this product. My only criteria were that it shouldn't be an HP (as I can't stand all of their tie-in software) and I wanted it to be a good brand rather than a shovelproduct producer (Epson?)

Again all I was looking for was a printer/scanner but when I got this guy in the mail I was pleasantly surprised at the number features it had. First of all be warned, this thing is a monolith. I mean it's big. I put it on a stand next to my computer and it looks like an altar of technological worship. BUT, if you don't mind the size the things got some nice bonuses. There's a fax machine (irrelevant for me) as well as a bulk scanner. A little tray in the top opens up and you can put a pile of paper in there and it'll suck it through and bring them up as individual files on the computer. This moves our household a little bit more towards paperless living. We've just taken to scanning in bills and documents to save and then archiving them to a disk and shredding the paper.

There's also a handy copier feature built in as well as a photo tray for printing with photo paper. It has MANY small individual color catridges...6 I think? No doubt that will be where my money will go to actually pay for all of these handy dandy features.

Still though that's the trap of everyone inkjet. If you're going cheap, this is a great printer to look into.

Customer Review: 5 stars is not enough
Summary: 5 Stars

I shopped and read reviews until I thought I would go blind. Thank God I did because I finally settled on the Canon PIXMA MP530 Office All-In-One Photo Printer with Fax (0580B002)I am tickled pink. I only use for my private use but I recently had to scan and print all my doctor records from years of back problems, surgeries and pain clinics. I guess at least 1200 copies printed at least. It does use ink but they all do and why not get excellent copies. Only 1 complaint and it may be my fault. I have gone through all my color cartridges and have replaced both black cartridges 2 times already. I can understand the black, but I have printed almost all my printing in grayscale only. I have been looking for a new computer so I must have printed more copies of those with color than I realized. But still, all in all I would advise this machine even for an office. The scanning is great and the copies are clear and neat.It was easy to set up and easy to learn how to use, just follow the directions and you will be an expert in 2 or 3 hours of actual use. Just be sure you copy and print on grayscale if you do not need dark copies. I used the cheapest paper you can buy. You have complete control of the quality of the printing, scanning, and copying. You can make them as dark or as light as you want.No reply on fax I have not used it yet.

Customer Review: Outstanding Features and Value for the Price
Summary: 5 Stars

I haven't been happy with printer purchases in the last few years. Problems with drivers malfunctioning, ink issues, manufacturer support and the like. And BTW...I will NEVER buy an Epson again. I also needed scanning capability after my ancient scanner stopped working and could never get it working again. So, I decided to go for an all-in-one solution.

I did quite a bit of research and this product seemed like it would not only fit my needs but was quite reliable.

I LOVE THIS PRODUCT. Canon has done a great job. Not only does it look nice, it's easy to use. Ink replacement is difficult with so many other printers I've had, with this one it's simple, and lickety split.

Every single function works exactly as advertised and the packaged software works just great. The control panel doesn't go through bizarre cryptic choices to find what you need. Everything is well laid out and works as you'd expect it to.

I hadn't realized it did batch scanning...and I just needed that on a project. What a great thing that is. Print quality for documents and color photos is great. It's not as fast as some others out there, but for my home office...it is a winning performer.

Kudos Canon! You've made me one happy customer. BTW...I'm writing this review in January 2008, and I got it in May 2007. It still works just as good as when I unpacked it!
