Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon Pixma MP530 Office All-In-One Inkjet Photo PrinterCustomer Review: Finally, a multifunction that "gets" it Summary: 5 Stars
Finally. This multifunction device recognizes a fax signal and only then answers an incoming call. Sweet. The scanner and software are spot on for OCR and quality scanning. Color printing is amazing. I love the colored lights when ink cartridges are inserted. And really, the replacement cartriges are the same price to replace as the Epson photo printers. Comparable photo quality, too. This machine gives Epson a run for its money in photo printing.
I bought the Pixma MP530 for my mom, set it up with minimal effort, and liked it so much I just ordered one for myself!
I'm replacing a Dell multifunction device that just didn't live up to my expectations. Really, what's the point of having a fax machine that doesn't know when to receive? Seriously.
I neglected to mention that this printer comes with software that enables you to scan to PDF. This is the absolutely BEST feature - I can't believe I didn't mention it earlier.
Customer Review: Canon PIXMA MP530 Summary: 5 Stars
I really like this printer. I had problems with the printer at first and called Canon and they sent out a new one (not refurbished) right away and paid for shipping on the other one to be sent back. Canon's customer service was very friendly and helpful and I understood the people I spoke with. I did not have to wait for ever to connect to customer service and they did everything to help me out. I have used it for photo's and it really looks like professional prints, very crisp and clear. I have actually framed a few of the photo's. My previous printer's have been hp and lexmark . I was not very happy with hp all they were willing to do was to send me a refurbished printer, when I was having problems with the printer I had of thiers. Lexmarks customer service was awful. This is my first Canon product and I can say I really think it is a great printer. I also could not beat the price thru amazon. Great deal.
Customer Review: Some have no clue........ Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the Canon MP530 and have had very good results so far. All the bad reviews about the ink cartridges are by people who gave up on the printer without a simple Google search to fix the problems. You can disable the Print Monitor all together so that the printer will work no matter how low the ink levels are. This is helpful when you refill the ink cartridges yourself, as I have done. Canon would love you buy their tanks every time they go low, but you can refill them yourself; but you must turn off the print monitor because the printer thinks it's tanks are empty even though you've refilled them.
Do it this way: 1) go to "maintenance" tab on print properties 2) select "View Printer Status" from the bottom 3) Click "Option" and deselect "Enable Status Monitor" -- That Simple!
A minor annoyance that doesn't warrant a one-star rating from other users. I really like this printer!
Customer Review: Smooth workhouse, I love this printer Summary: 5 Stars
I have used this printer for over a year. I am a busy tax accountant and I have found the printer to be fast, extremely reliable, and easy on the ink. I love it that it will let me keep printing until the ink actually RUNS OUT. None of this forcing you to change the cartridge early. I haven't measured it, but based on my past experience with other printers, I think I am getting good value in number of pages for ink cartridges used. I am away on a extended business trip, so I decided to buy a printer there. BIG MISTAKE. I bought an HP that was really not up to the job, returned it and got another HP- the HP Officejet 5750. I can't believe this printer is in the same price range as my Pixma! The document feeder on this HP is slow and loud and its already asking for ink (Not forcing it yet) at about 120 pages printed. The Pixma is smooth, reliable, perfect for heavy use in a small business, and economical.
Customer Review: This is a good solid printer. Summary: 5 Stars
I recently purchased the Canon PIXMA MP530 and love it. I'm using it at home and primarily for printing and scanning. The ability to scan in a whole document through the feed or open the top and scan a book is very convenient for my studies. I have notice that when scanning from the document feed, it will occasionally scan a page crooked, which could be a problem if you are scanning for something that has to look professional. I'm a perfectionist though and I'd recommend using the open top scanning in those cases.
It also was very easy to set up and fairly easy to use the programs. It'll scan to .pdf, which is very nice, but can't be directly networked, which is a pity. That isn't super important to me, so it isn't enough to detract from the other features. I've never used the fax, so I can't comment on that feature. I've only had it a month, but I would recommend this printer to others.
