Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon Pixma MP610 Photo All-In-One Inkjet Printer (2180B002)Customer Review: Reviewing my Canon Pixma MP 610 printer Summary: 5 Stars
When I first got the printer, the box was so huge. I thought, well, it is just mostly styrofoam packing. Well, it was packaged good, but it was mostly printer. It was huge. I squeezed it in the spot I had for it and a few simple directions, had it up and running. The directions were very easy to understand. I love the onscreen manual that tells you how to do everything.
The printer is ready to go when you first turn it on without any hesitation. I tried a document, which printed clearly. Then I printed all sizes of pictures, which I realy wanted the printer for. It did an excellent job.
I also, wanted it for printing scroll saw patterns for my husband. It does a very good job on this, too.
I like the fact that I do not have to start my computer to do things.
I reviewed printers for about 6 months before I could buy a new one and this Canon Pixma MP 610 kept coming back as the best for what I wanted a printer for. I paid $139.89 for it through Amazon, which I thought was a very good deal.
Customer Review: So Far, So Good! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought the MP610 about a week ago to use with a Mac and Tiger OS. I wanted to print photos, text, and graphics. Overall I am very impressed for the money spent. Setup was well-documented and easy. Photos look better than I was expecting. Printing and scanning from Photoshop work perfectly. Scan quality is very good but not top-notch. Print quality is excellent when you use the correct settings and good paper. I had some colors print inaccurately from InDesign and Acrobat. Still trying to figure it out. Text quality is excellent, almost laser quality.
SCANNING TIP: If you get the white specks people have mentioned, turn off "Unsharp Mask." (Click "Specify...") This happens when you scan textured paper. If you have any photo software you can sharpen after you scan.
PRINTING TIPS: Be sure to use the correct print settings especially "Quality & Media." The access to these settings is in your software's Print Dialog box. Type of paper makes a big difference. Photos won't look good on plain paper.
Customer Review: Excellent value! Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this printer for about a month and it has been excellent.
The copy function works without the computer turned on and the user interface is surprisingly intuitive. I was able to discover how to do everything without resorting to the manual.
The scan function is very good and the software works very well on the Mac.
The print quality on photos is really remarkable. The speed is very good as well. Again, the Mac software was exceptional. I did download the easy-photoprint software from their web site. The PC CD comes with that, but really iPhoto on the Mac works as well. But I wanted to try it out.
Installation was very simple, as it is with most ink jet printers nowadays. But this setup seemed especially easy.
I still have no regrets on this excellent scanner/copier/printer. The functionality is what I expected out of a much more expensive unit. And, kudos to Amazon, even with the free shipping I had the unit in less than a week.
Customer Review: Love it! Summary: 5 Stars
I read the reviews of this all-in-one printer, as well as others and decided to take a chance on switching from Epson, since my old printer died on me. I print a lot of photos, but also needed a work horse to serve my home office. This printer has not disappointed me. The print results are marvelous and the scan and copy features are simple, quick and satisfying. One of my concerns was the reviews that mentioned it being an ink hog. I'm happy to realize that it is not. One of the first things I did with this printer was print all of my 2007 photos for my album; there were over 170 of them. Since then I've worked it daily in my office and after a month finally had to change a couple of the ink cartridges. I think the key is to ignore the initial warning of low ink until the printer tells you it won't go any farther till you change a particular cartridge. After the initial warning, it can print for a long time before it's really necessary.
Customer Review: pleasanly surprised Summary: 5 Stars
It was slightly larger than I expected, but it did fit in the place I wanted to put it. It looks great. Now for the important things, printing from the computer is excellent, copying color pictures from magazines and text off the Internet like recipes are clean. I need to play with scan a little bit more. The default pixels are set too low but can be adjusted. I scanned a picture from a magazine, cropped a small portion, and made wallpaper for my background computer picture on a 20" monitor. Even that wasn't too bad but next time I will adjust a higher pixel. I have used it for six weeks mostly printing emails and things off the Internet and have not replaced cartridges yet. Pretty good. I have not tried flashcards or memory sticks. No digital camera. I am impressed with the engineering, design and looks. I still like the Cannon MP 500 on my other computer that's three years old. They both use the same ink cartridge.
