Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon Pixma MP610 Photo All-In-One Inkjet Printer (2180B002)

Customer Review: it's not the printer it's Canon
Summary: 1 Stars

Well I have just opened a brand new Canon PIXMA MP610 printer and it doesn't work I called Canon support and they could only offer me a refurbished printer. Which is completely unacceptible. They did not know if there was a service center in Hawaii so they could not direct me to anyone local. Lucky for me I can still return it to Amazon, but since I wanted to use this printer for some graphics priniting, I will be out $100 extra in printer cost at a pro center. Point in case, BUYER BEWARE Canon is of no help...this comes from a long terms fan and customer (I have 7 cameras and lenses from XT, XTI SLRs to G9 (with underwater housing) to several is the SD series and I have 2 other printers every time I've had problems I have taken care of it myself)...next time I will look at alternatives. It simply is not good enough to offer a used replacement for a new product. The printer it self I know nothing about.

Customer Review: great printer until you get the u150 error
Summary: 1 Stars

I purchased this 7 months ago. Started having problems around the 4 month mark. I am absolutely frustrated.

I am now getting the u150 error - google "canon u150" and you'll see this is a common complaint. I only buy canon ink cartridges (no generic ink) and you have a 20% chance of getting a faulty cartridge - even if it's a canon brand.

I am never buying from canon again. I used to have an earlier canon - loved it. But I have lost all faith in canon because of this u150 error! It took me 1 hour to print 2 pages - from restarting the printer (turn on/off) to re-pushing down the offending ink cartridge.

I am sad to give this a bad review, and I am sad that I have lost faith in canon products. I wish it was not the case. Please reconsider before you buy this printer!

Customer Review: Garbage
Summary: 1 Stars

Canon pixmas regularly spray huge amounts of ink into their waste pads, whilst *testing* themselves - so even if you don't actually print with the colour cartridges [i.e. if you just use black ink], you will still have to replace the colour cartridges very quickly [yes, you will HAVE TO or you can't even scan, let alone print/copy].

My colours ALL expired at the same time, within 1 month of buying this printer [and I barely use it]. I replaced ALL the cartridges yesterday.....and lo, I got the U150 error on the new cyan cartridge. So I ordered another new cyan cartridge which arrived today - BUT STILL THE SAME U150 ERROR! I can't print or scan. Should I waste yet more money on another cyan cartridge and hope the third time lucky? Or should I just throw this doozy lemon of a printer in the bin?

Customer Review: hasn't worked since day one..
Summary: 1 Stars

I purchased this about two months ago, unfortunately I didn't open it until one month ago (otherwise I would return this product via Amazon returns). From day one the printer would not print or copy in black, only in color. Anything containing black comes out completely blank. And there are absolutely no error messages being displayed. I contacted Canon tech support and they sent out a replacement print head. I replaced the print head only to find the same problem. At this point, my black ink tank is depleted even though I've never used it - only attempted to use it for 3 "deep cleanings" that tech support told me to perform. Canon will only replace it with a refurbished model, which I find unacceptable - but can't do anything about it. Ah, I just pray the refurbished replacement works.

Customer Review: Poor quality photos
Summary: 1 Stars

The pictures came out dull, lifeless, grainy, and hazy. Wasted over a dozen 4X6 sheets and hours of work trying different settings. Tried both the included software and the Mac-resident print utility. Neither produced acceptable pictures. Tried adjusting the color saturation level, paper type, and hue with no avail. Interestingly, the photos, when viewed in preview, are noticeably duller than the original on the screen, so something is happening during the translation. I had two HP's that produced excellent pictures but one kept jamming and the other had a print head that refused to fire despite a new cartridge. I was hopping for a better result with Cannon. I am returning this unit and continuing my search.
