Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon Pixma MP610 Photo All-In-One Inkjet Printer (2180B002)Customer Review: Great photo printer Summary: 5 Stars
I am a general contractor and used this printer to enter some of my projects in a local competition. I was stunned as I saw the first picture come off of this thing. I ran downstairs and showed it to my wife and told her that this is the best printer we have ever owned.
I did all kinds of research on these types of printers and it is tough as every printer out there has at least one person who says it is a piece of $#@!. I took a chance and bought this one at a local store, bought a 3 year warranty, and off to the races. I printed up around 70 images and all of them came out great. Just be sure to use photo paper, not regular bond.
We wont use this printer for everyday printing as you basically have to buy Canon ink, which ain't cheap. The tanks come with chips so you cant use them twice, at least it seems that way. But man, the images are worth it.
Customer Review: Canon MP 610 printer Summary: 5 Stars
This is my 3rd Canon printer. All have been excellent for photo printing, except, I can't afford to keep them in ink. I ruined the print heads on my i860 and MP530 by purchasing inferior ink over the internet. It was a costly lesson, but now I'm a firm believer that Canon has its customers over a barrel in that they force us to buy ink from them. It costs $62.00 +tax to re-ink from Sam's Club. It seem weird that fully equipped printers can be purchased for as low as $50. One can purchase a printer with ink, throw the printer in the garbage, use the ink in an existing printer, and still be money ahead. Yes, I know that's how manufacturers make their money, but I still feel raped each time I have to purchase ink. I believe this is an industry standard. Some day an honest company will build a reliable printer and sell their ink for a reasonable price. I hope to live that long!
Customer Review: High-Quality Printer That Does It All Summary: 5 Stars
Strengths: Versatile (scans, prints high-quality photos and text, duplexes) & Easy to Use (controls are intuitive and functions can be accessed without menus)
Weaknesses: Expensive Ink
I love this printer. I replaced a scanner and a printer on my desk with one unit no bigger than either I had. I expected the controls to be complicated since this baby could duplex, feed from multiple trays, print from many file sources, and do so much else. I was pleasantly surprised at how intuitive the user interface is. The scroll wheel allows access to all functions without having to guess which menu you need to choose. Graphic images accompany the choices to make it faster. Choosing the top or lower paper feed tray is the simple matter of selecting from two dedicated buttons that have idiot lights to confirm the choice. Even the print driver makes default selections easy.
Customer Review: Excellent value on a brand-new printer Summary: 5 Stars
This printer is a professional-quality printer from Canon that is in many ways superior to the newer printers designed to replace it. For instance, All the ink cartridges for this model hold more ink than the corresponding cartridges in the newer models, and the print quality is just as good...outstanding, actually. Plus, ink refill kits/chip resetters are available for this model (not yet for the newer ones), thus providing a very inexpensive long-term ink solution. PLUS the brand-new replacement ink cartridges themselves cost much less than do the smaller cartridges required for the newer models.
The newer models DO have the wireless connection that this one lacks, which would be very convenient in a multi-computer office with WAN...but not a requirement, by any means.
All in all, this is a great printer/copier combination.
Customer Review: printer probably OK, but Amazon is great Summary: 5 Stars
i can't say much about the printer because i have yet to use it. i was surprised, like many others, to find that it didn't come with a usb cable. so i ordered the bluetooth device. i'm sure it will work ok, once i get the computer and the printer to talk to each other.
but i want to sing the praises of amazon. i bought the printer when it had a 50 buck rebate. after reading about other buyers' experiences with canon rebates, i was took care filling out the form, sending along the receipt and the correct bar code.
then i waited for my money.
canon denied my rebate request.
i wanted to fill out the form again but couldn't find it online. i emailed amazon with my problem, and they credited me $50.
now that is customer service. and that will keep me coming back to amazon.
