Boo.
Because of Canon's dunderheaded marketing, I bought this printer/scanner THINKING it would print DVDs and CDs. Something I NEED a printer to do.
All the reviews said it did, and comments galore raved about how it prints DVDs and CDs.
But, apparently, that's ONLY IN EUROPE.
And, the brilliant company that Canon is, they FAILED TO GIVE THAT PRINTER A DIFFERENT NAME. Or, OTHERWISE INDICATE THAT IT HAS DIFFERENT FUNCTIONS IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES.
I just saw the box and packaging go away with the recycling truck, so now I'm stuck with this crappy printer that doesn't do what it should do.
Bad Canon. Bad.
Customer Review: Ink is a BIG problem

I finally replaced my antique printer with this, and the problems with ink cartridges are unacceptable. I rarely print color, have everything set to black only, and have still blown through color cartridges in a couple of months, and now get the "ink cartridge not recognized" error message, which renders the machine totally useless. There is no reason the machine should not print in black only when it can't recognize a full color cartridge so I consider this a huge design flaw. I do not refill cartridges and only use Canon cartridges purchased from the same retailer as the printer. The print quality is fine . . . when it is willing to print. I've had a Canon Pixma MP610 printer for two months. It has displayed the dreaded (and common - based on a web search) U150 error twice in the last week. The first time I was able to get the printer to work after removing and re-installing the magenta cartridge about 10 times. Tonight... same message - but nothing seems to work.
The printer has the original factory ink cartridges that are now two months old and have more than 80% of their original ink.
Aside from the fact that this error is so common, the real frustration is that the printer won't print or copy anything, even black and white, because of the error.

Okay, it's great on a certain level... It prints, it scans, looks great. But it rejects the printer cartridges and won't do anything... These are the cartridges that came with it and all of a sudden it "doesn't recognize" them anymore and ceases to do anything. I contacted the Canon support team and all they do is say they'll send me a new cartridge. This means that they don't really care about this problem. And what's really bad is that there's 5 cartridges for it to reject! I don't know if the other canon printers are like this, but I think this feature completely ruins the printer/scanner.Customer Review: not at all satisfied

The color is totally unacceptable. We have spent hours on the phone with tech support. 2nd printer was sent (a refurbished printer in exchange for the new one I purchased) same problem - all red, no blues and greens. Have been offered another refurbished machine. Don't want it and have been told I cannot return for refund because it has been more than 30 days since the original purchase (only a week after the 2nd was sent. i will never purchase canon again.
