Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon Pixma MX850 Office All-In-One Inkjet Printer (2436B002)Customer Review: I like it Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this multifunction machine for one week now (waited to fully test before reviewing). The first thing you will notice is the esthetically pleasing design; it looks great in your office. I love the ADF feature and it works as well as you would expect for a small office machine but excellent for what I use it for (home use). I had no problems setting up and was printing sheets and pictures in about 15 min. (takes 13 min. to load software). The print quality may be a smidge rough for the perfectionist but was fully acceptable for home use (it really is not bad). Picture quality was superb, colors vivid, contrast great and very clear. I came from an HP all in one that produced very nice pictures but this beats it hands down. I sent and received one fax just to test and it worked fine, no problems (kind of nice feature). Copies and scanning were accomplished as well as my HP, colors and sharpness very nice. All in all I really like this new machine and would recommend it to anyone looking for a high end home or small office tool. I have no use for the network function therefore did not set up on my home router. By the way the duplex function works well and is also a great feature for the home office.
Customer Review: Favorite printer of all time Summary: 5 Stars
This is the best printer I have ever owned. I bought it for work and it is heavily used. I have had it a few months and have printed out thousands of copies. I have not had a single paper jam. Print quality is excellent. The fax and copier capability is excellent. I use this machine as a copy machine more than I have any other all-in-one I have owned (kodak, Lexmark and several HPs).
Another useful thing about the printer is if you have cats, this is the best printer to have around them. The trays open automatically when in use. They are closed the rest of the time. I had a Samsung laser printer destroyed by my cats because of jumping on the paper tray. The paper tray of this machine is inside the machine. The few areas protrude in front are are sturdy. Unfortunately, this machine has been tested a lot by our two office cats.
I am not a professional photographer but I do photograph things for the manuals in our office and have been impressed by the quality of the photos.
The software with the printer has been excellent without any glitches.
I am planning to buy another one of these printers for my home.
Customer Review: Working just fine! Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this unit for a couple months now and everything is working just fine. I use it all the time for printing, and the big upgrade here is having the wireless capabilily, so I can print from my laptop from anywhere in the house. I also have the two laptops on the same network and can print from either one wirelessly. Setup for wireless was quick and painless, though as noted, I had to use the USB cable from my previous printer for setup only.
As for photo printing I think the prints are beautiful but I moved from ancient technology on both the photoprinter and camera. I do like having one printer for both printouts and photos.
The document feeder works great for faxes. There are two buttons, one for color and one for b/w. Also like the document feeder for copies. It makes double-sided copies, which I think is cool. It also opens the door for your document to come out on its own, also kind of neat.
Haven't used it to scan yet, but we plan on scanning in some old pix.
Considering this was $150 and replaced my fax, printer and photoprinter I think it's pretty awesome and I haven't had any problems.
Customer Review: Has everything I need...... Summary: 5 Stars
I needed an all-in-one printer with networking capabilities. After much research, I bought the Canon MX850 & am very pleased.
Pros:
- I have this attached to my router & all functions can be accomplished wirelessly (except for faxing since that needs a phone line). The setup was simple & straightforward.
- I Compared the photo printing of this printer with my dedicated photo printer & could not tell much of a differnece (slightly lighter shading with the MX850).
- The indiviudal ink tanks saves you money as you only need to replace the the colors/tanks when empty.
- All functions are available via buttons on the pritner (do not need to go through software to get to functions).
Cons:
- The installation process puts several programs in the startup process that were not needed. You only need the network monitoring to be loaded to utilize the printer.
- As mentioned previously, the photo printer a shade lighter. But, that was comparing side-by-side with a photo printer. I doubt you would notice otherwise.
Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase.
Customer Review: Canon MX850 Summary: 5 Stars
After spending a career in print and video production, I was very reluctant to leap into an all-in-one machine when the price was less than I paid for my first digital camera (and not a very good one at that). I worried over the Epson (my choice for years for photo printing), HP and the Canon. By the time I was on a first name basis with the staff at several local shops (spent hours printing and comparing) and after hours on the Web reading all there was to read, I was still confused.
I finally selected the Canon MX850 because the physical unit seemed to be better built than the other two lines. Also the photo/copy products were great. Not sure the photos are quite to the level of the multi-ink high end photo-only printers from Epson but who gets out a magnifying glass to compare. If there is a difference, it would require that level of examination.
The MX850 is 100%+ user friendly and is a remarkable machine for the money. Do your own comparisons and then decide. But make sure you give the MX850 serious consideration. I labored over my decision for more than 6 months. And I made the right one.
