Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon Pixma MX850 Office All-In-One Inkjet Printer (2436B002)Customer Review: Hands down the best printer!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been a loyal HP fan for some time but as you often hear from any Hp owner they always tell you that they have owned many HP's. the reason why is because the build quality is crap and is nothing compared to Canon printers and HP's always break or let you down some sort of way or the software is problematic at times.you should only have to buy 1 printer and it should LAST!!!IM very pleased with the canon MX850 its a little bulky but if you have the room its 1 of the best quality printers you will ever own.Very easy to set up took only 10-15 mins.Makes excellent 4x6 glossies,no more going to the photo store and paying someone else to do what you can do at home.print quality is also very good id give it a 8 out of 10 which is practically high quality when compared to a laser printer.its quiet, easy to use and easy to set up ,Fax is user friendly, scanning is near flawless. It takes a little getting used to move around the menu but once you know how to use it ,you will love it.no more HP's for me ever.
Customer Review: No Power after surge Summary: 5 Stars
I see I'm not the only one to have lost all power after a surge. We just had two of them "die" at the same time. However, I discovered the machines are not dead. I called Canon, and they recommended unplugging all cables from the unit for an hour, and then plugging it directly into a wall outlet. We did this on both units, and behold, they are working again. It is a fail-safe feature in the unit. They are both working fine now, plugged back into their original outlets.
By the way, Canon is probably the best customer service I've ever received. They were ready for this, and without my asking, agreed to send out two new machines if this process failed.
However, the printers are working again. Excellent machines, fast, great paper loading options, good print quality, the software works well on a Mac (HP software has given us nothing but grief), and, as it turns out, they know how to protect themselves from power surges.
Customer Review: Love this printer... Summary: 5 Stars
I replaced a Dell Laser multifunction and an HP Photosmart with this Pixma printer. I am very pleased with this printer, especially the photo printing quality. I printed some photos of the kids and hung them at work. I've gotten several compliments from people at work about the picture quality. I was concerned about that prior to buying this model, but am no longer. It does everything it's supposed to do and I get to save money by not having two separate printers in at once. The only negative I have is the installation process for getting it to work over the network. I'm pretty computer saavy and I had to really think since my first couple of tries failed. Re-reading the manual a couple times finally got me over the hump. After all is said and done, I've got one Windows computer connected via USB and one Windows and Mac connected via network. Everything is happy, and so am I!
Customer Review: Canon Pixma MX850 Great Product!! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this from amazon with free shipping and I bought if for less than $150.00. When it arrived my 11 year old son tried to pick up the box and was amazed at how heavy it was. He left it to dear old dad to pick up. I have owned it for about 4 weeks at this point.
This is a very substantial machine and appears to be very well made. So far it has performed flawlessly. I have printed some pictures, done regular printing, copies and envelopes. This machine has worked like every canon product that I have owned, perfectly! I am very pleased with this product. It sure beats having a separate scanner, printer and fax machine. It is quite large bigger than I expected. However if you look at the foot print the scanner, printer and fax machine took up it is actually quite compact. I hope this review was helpful.
Best regards,
Chris
Customer Review: Great All-In-One for the price - good tech support from Canon Summary: 5 Stars
I've had the MX850 for nearly a year now, after having a Canon S600 for several years before that.
Pros
- 2 sheet feeders allows me to keep Letter and 4x6 photo stock available at the same time
- Automatic Document Feeder for copying and scanning
- The network functionality
- wakes up quickly from standby mode
- 4x6 photos print quickly with good quality.
Cons
- ink is spendy
I've got 4 PC's in the house, XP, Vista 32 and Vista 64 and they are all printing to the MX850 over ethernet. The Vista 64 box was a little tricky to set up but a quick call to Canon support put me straight. The driver had installed OK, but did not set up the port. The technician talked me through adding a port and it was all systems go.
There's now a firmware update available on the Canon site, this installed OK.
