I bought the Canon Pro9000 to replace my large format Epson 1270 that I've had for years. I have to admit that there were issues with the Epson printer regarding inks, paper and color shift to the magenta side that were trying at times. So I had adjust my photos in Photoshop to compensate for this. When I fired up the Canon and chose an image that I had printed on the Epson, it printed out perfectly the first time without any adjustments and the color was just what I wanted from the photo. its pretty large. It takes up 1/2 of my desk. I can't wait for USB wireless to come out later this year so i can put it somewhere else.
First thing i printed out was a 11x8 portrait of my daughter and its absolutely stunning. All the colors are exactly the way they look on the computer.
I would say that this printer is mainly for larger pictures because i printed out some 3x5's and 4x6's and the quality isn't much different than my Canon i470d which costs $50.
Plus i like the idea of having more cartridges rather than having to replace an entire color cartridge when only one color runs out. I've had it for about a month now and i'd recommend it.

I'm a photographer and I do a lot of really complex prints. I have to say the pixma pro9000 can handle them. one of my major concerns was how often would i have to replace the inks in this printer. Since getting this printer i have done about 15 8X10 prints without putting a dent in the ink levels. I am very picky abut printer because they usually have poor performance and have only CMYK inks. I love the 8 inks that this printer can use it creates such rich and bold photographs that I'm just blown away by them. Also the 13X19 prints are purely amazing and this is one fast printer. I would recommend this to anyone who is serious about printing or selling there art.Customer Review: Beautiful prints

This printer is everything I'd hoped it would be. Upgrading from my tiny (comparatively - it looks like a baby now) IP 3000 - which I've always loved the prints from - this was a leap in quality. Rich, rich colors, and completely trouble free - exactly what I've come to expect from Canon.
The prints are at least conventional process quality (or better, depending on where you get your prints), but as I don't have a lab, this is my best choice for controlling the color and quality in my prints. So worth it.
I haven't yet used the straight paper path feature, but knowing that I *can* leaves open a wide area of possibility.

I use a digital SLR, Photoshop & Painter X to manipulate my photography. I have been very underwhelmed by the various online print services. The last large print I received was the last straw. Now was the time to take the plunge to buy a printer. I did my homework and decided, with the rebate Canon was offering, this was the printer for me. I have been blown away by the prints I have been producing. I had no idea inkjet printing had advanced so far. The prints I have produced with the Pro9000 are by far superior to the online printers. I have been using the different Canon papers and can only say I love this printer and so far, have no regrets.
