Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon PowerShot A630 8MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical ZoomCustomer Review: Purchase of a Canon A630 new digital camera Summary: 5 Stars
Having used a Sony Mavica FD83 digital camera for a long time we recently purchased this new Canon digital camera last month. We are pleased with the camera, written instructions, software, compactness and many, many features. It will probably take us some time to figure out all of the things this camera can do. I really like the automatic setting the camera provides which takes great pictures and I don't have to figure out intricate settings to get a good picture. There are also lots of add-ons we can get and will soon purchase the telephoto equipment and rechargable battery equipment. Meanwhile, we are taking super pictures using standard AA batteries. You will definitely need a bigger SD card because this camera takes some big pictures and will use up the included SD Card real fast.
Customer Review: versatile, great photos Summary: 5 Stars
A replacement for my Canon A40 w 3x zoom and 2.1 mpx. A world of difference,
ESPECIALLY with that swiveling large size LCD. What a help!!!! Even in sun can
adjust so rarely need to use viewfinder.
The large mpx serves as an additional zoom factor, since when you set camera at
max size/rez with very large mpx image, AND use zoom, you can get good image of
smaller subject from a decent distance, nearly like using a telescope!!!
Batt life very good, with the 4 AA as was with my earlier model. Actually so may
varients for pic taking I tend to get lost at times, but since I read the How To in
manual only when I HAVE to, its my fault.
Highly recommended. Now all I need is decent aftermarket flash for additional interior work.
Customer Review: I love Canon PowerShots Summary: 5 Stars
We had an older Canon Powershot A95...and it lasted quite a while..it had a pretty hard life...so we upgraded to the A630..it does all the same stuff. It has a higher resolution and a better zoom. It has one less feature on the turnstyle, but it is not missed. The one thing that we can do with this camera that we couldn't w/the A95 is zoom in while you are taking video..that is a great feature. The camera also takes 4 AA batteries, it is great to get rechargables. It is a little heavier and bulkier than most digital cameras out there..but it is a little lighter than the A95...and still fits into a purse. The A630 does take an SD card where the A95 took a Compact Flash card..so you can't use your old memory...but SD's aren't that expensive. The camera came in great shape...we love it!
Customer Review: The Canon Family Summary: 5 Stars
I have a long list of canon cameras at use in my house. This one really surprised me! it is so much better than the compact cameras I currently had. It ,of course, takes great pictures! I had an A95 and upgraded to the 630. What an upgrade. The Macro shot ability of the 630 is incredible, the large view screen is sweet and the ability to flip the screen out for different bizarre angles is more of a plus than most people realize. The A95 has this feature as well, and when upgrading to the 630, I was not going to give up this sweet option.
all in all this is one of the best compact digital cameras I have had. No, it is not tiny, but, I am 6' tall and this camera doesn't feel like I am holding a deck of cards and trying to take a picture.
Customer Review: A Very Easy Camera to Use Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this camera in July, 2007. I inserted the batteries that they came with and used the camera during 2 weddings and a vacation, taking over 300 pictures. I was very impressed by that. The pictures are very clear and sharp. I use Shutterfly which says the pictures can print up to 20x30! I haven't had the chance to try other features, I mostly stick to Auto, with and without the flash. It is truly an easy camera to use!
UPDATE--Aug, 2008--I recently just used the video feature on the camera for the first time and it is amazing. The picture is clear and crisp and the sound quality is excellent. I was very pleasantly surprised. I would recommend this camera to anyone. It is always in my purse and I use it often.
