Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon PowerShot SD1200IS 10 MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD (Dark Gray)Customer Review: Great Camera Summary: 5 Stars
I spent a week debating which camera to buy. Finally, I was torn between the Canon PowerShot A1100IS 12.1 MP and this camera, which has a smaller MP number and is more expensive. Logic would say to buy the one that is $129 with the higher MP. In the end I chose this one because its smaller and less-bulky. I tested both in-store and found this model to be more adequate to what I wanted. Basically, I wanted to take your everyday pictures but also needed a camera that can take good close-ups for selling some items on ebay and whatnot. This camera does exactly that and a 10MP vs. a 12 MP is not that big a difference. This camera did exactly everything I wanted and exceeded my expectations. I've read some reviews on here where people complain about the noise it makes when focusing. I am not sure if these people have lives who would let such a minor thing deter them from buying a camera. It is louder than other cameras I've owned, but its not annoying by any means. In my mind this is a perfect camera. I am pleased and will probably have it for years unless the kids want to see how it looks in the toilet.
Customer Review: CANON does it again! Summary: 5 Stars
DISCLAIMER:
- I am a Canon brand loyalist so my review may be perceived as a touch biased by some
PROS:
- Can't get a better ultra-small digital camera for this price
- Very sturdy (I dropped in on paved surfaces a number of times, it's dented from both sides now but still works beautifully)
- Point-and-shoot mode for the novice and quite a bit of room to improvise in terms of functions for a semi-pro or enthusiast
- Takes in an SD card which is WAY WAY more convenient than the older Canon's which require a CF card
- Battery life is extremely long - no need to buy a spare
- Start-up is lightening fast so chances are, you will capture THE moment when you need to (just keep it handy)
- Image stabilizer
CONS:
- Can't really think of any
- If I force myself to make one up, it would be the fact that it's now $30 cheaper than when I bought it.
BOTTOMLINE:
- If you're looking for a highly portable, reliable and sturdy digital camera - and you only trust Canon - you just found it!
Customer Review: A great little camera Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this camera now for about 6 months and I think it is great. No it is not a professional grade camera, but that was not what I was willing to pay for, nor was I looking for a complicated bulky camera that I had to lug around. This is perfect in size, I just keep it in my purse all the time. I did research before purchasing it, and one of my main requirements was a viewfinder. I definitely wanted a viewfinder since taking a picture in a somewhat darkened room (such as a Halloween party), without it, you can't see what you're aiming at. An LCD screen just isn't enough in that situation. After weighing all of my options and checking other's reviews, I felt this was the best camera for me. I also wanted something affordable and cute. This camera is really cute and it takes great pictures. Another reviewer said he didn't get a manual, nor a memory card with. Now, I bought mine from Walmart and it did come with a manual, but I had to purchase a memory card separately (which was stated). Overall, this is a great little camera with a lot of great features.
Customer Review: Excellent value Summary: 5 Stars
I bought the SD1200IS a few weeks ago for my (very young) daughter, who wanted a "real" camera.
I was surprised at how much camera she got for a hundred and fifty bucks. (The last camera I bought close to this class was a SD800 three or four years ago, and it cost three times that back then; it's only a slightly better camera.) The build is excellent and pleasing to the eye (she got the blue version; close to a shade of turquoise). Image quality is decent for this small of a camera (my daughter only makes 4"x6" prints on a Selphy 770, and for that the image quality is ample). I wish though that Canon had the guts to make this a 4 megapixel camera or so: Making it 10 megapixels worsens things. The user interface is actually better than the SD800 I have: I like the separate "review" button, and the three way slider to select between "full automatic", "manual" (really, "just 95% automatic"), and "movie" also makes the camera more accessible (as required for my child).
So, overall, we are very pleased so far.
Customer Review: This camera was rated #1 in it's category, now I know why. Summary: 5 Stars
This camera takes professional quality pictures in auto mode! Just hold down the shutter button half way, it automatically focuses, stabilizes, chooses the best seen type, then you press the shutter button all the way down and boom, you have yourself a knock out picture. The LCD screen is so bright and looks like a HDTV Plasma quality image! It takes awesome night time pics as well! I recently went to an Aquarium. I got National Geographic quality photos through the glass by keeping it in auto and pressing the flash button twice to turn off the flash and was amazed! I've had so many people on Facebook ask me what kind of camera I have, they can't believe the quality of the photos I post. I got the camera for $169.99 on Amazon and free shipping! I got the dark gray with the matching gray canon leather case and love it! Buy this camera, you won't regret it! And remember to get an SDHC memory card. I got the Sandisk 8 GB on Amazon for $11.99, reg. $59.99! Steal it while you can!
