Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon PowerShot SD1200IS 10 MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD (Dark Gray)Customer Review: Canon over Nikon 570 Summary: 5 Stars
I had a hard time deciding whether or not to go with this Canon or one of the Nikon Coolpix. After much research, I had almost made up my mind that the Nikon was the way to go because of all the coolpix fun features(blink alerts, smile detection, skin smoothing). However, after comparing the 2 cameras in person (and boy am I glad I did) I realized that the reviews were true and the Nikon took awful pics. The Canon's pictures were super clear and nowhere near as grainy as the Nikons. And when zoomed onto closeups of words the Canon was crystal clear while the Nikon was fuzzy and blurry. Although the Canon doesn't have the extra fun features of the Nikon it takes much better quality shots. (And with any pic editing software I can edit my photos anyway I want too). Go with this Canon you won't be disappointed. (And just fyi- I'm no pro, I mainly take shots of my friends and vacations. I print pics for scrapbooking and also upload them to FB).
Customer Review: Great Little Camera Summary: 5 Stars
I recently purchased this camera for my Dad for Father's Day. I have an older model that I really like so I thought I would get him the updated version. He wanted a small digital camera so that he would take more pictures and not have to carry around his old camera (the kind with the huge zoom lens attached). He is a really good photographer but hes older and used to film so the whole digital thing was like a scary mystery. Now he loves his digital camera and takes it with him all the time and has gotten back into taking great pictures wherever he goes. The color and quality that the camera produces are amazing and it is easy to use with a simple auto mode or you can change various settings, which takes a little more time to sit down and learn but it's not too complicated. This is a great camera and i suggest cannon over other brands with similar compact cameras.
Customer Review: Great camera, no case or memory card Summary: 5 Stars
I just got this camera - I'm very impressed so far. One thing that the photos don't quite convey is just how compact it is - lots of great features in a very small package.
I wanted to echo something that other people have written. It's not packaged with a memory card. I recommend the Kingston 8GB SD HC Card:
[...]
It's $17 for 8GB, which will hold 3000 pictures at the maximum 10 megapixels. The camera accepts SD, SDHC, MultiMedia, MMCplus, and HC MMCplus cards.
The camera comes with a wrist strap, but no case. I got this one:
[...]
It's just a cover to protect the camera - it doesn't have any pockets for accessories. If you want one, there are plenty of third party camera cases out there. You really should get some kind of case to protect the camera (especially the large LCD screen) from scratches.
Customer Review: Compact and Great Value! Summary: 5 Stars
I was tired of my old Powershot as it was cumbersome (couldn't fit it in a pocket, heavy, etc., plus it didn't always take the best pictures without me fiddling with settings that weren't what the environment actually was).
This camera is a gem. It is small, I can fit it in my work blazer's pocket even, the picture quality is superb as well as the shutter speed. The battery and charger are great-- I was also tired of having to recharge batteries all the time for my old camera. I am impressed with the price as well, as compared to others I looked at that were the same size-- great value. If you're looking to upgrade to a more current digital camera, I recommend this highly!
Wish it came with at least a temporary case til I got my own, but otherwise nothing to suggest!
Customer Review: Great camera! Summary: 5 Stars
I was looking for a small, reasonably priced point and shoot camera. Between the good reviews and a friends recommendation I bought the Canon SD1200IS camera. I have had it now for about 3 months and LOVE it! It's very fast on power up and between pictures. The photos are great and it's easy to use. It comes with several special setting, one of which is is Aquarium. I thought to myself, great, but when would I EVER need that? Well only two weeks after getting the camera I was at the Monterey Bay aquarium. So what the heck, I'll get the setting a try. Worked perfect! Others at the aquarium had a very difficult time taking good pictures of all the great creatures, but with the special setting I was able to take perfect pictures. I highly recommend this camera.
