Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon PowerShot SD1200IS 10 MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD (Dark Gray)Customer Review: A great point and shoot camera Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this camera as a xmas gift for my wife.
After researching several cameras, this was the one that I purchased.
Size was a factor. Her previous cameras were to bulky to fit in her purse, which made here not carry a camera. Now she takes the her camera with all the time. Plus, she is taking more pictures than before.
The stablization has made her pitcures great.
I am pleased with her progress with the different settings and the quality of her photos.
For a compact point and shoot, this is the one.

Customer Review: Why I bought Canon Summary: 5 Stars
I was looking for a small, 200 dollar price range, camera with as large an optical zoom range as possible. Of course I wanted all the other performance aspects that are expected of a 10 Megapixel camera. Previously owned Kodak cameras had performed very well, so I purchase a Kodak M380 from another online vendor. It didn't work. The auto focus function didn't.
I renewed my search. Several friends have Canon cameras and looking at their photo results convincesd me to forget about higher zoom capability and accept a 3 to 1 zoom range in a camera that really works. I selected the Canon SD 1200 IS. I'm very happy with my decision. The camera continues to amaze me. The performance is more than I expected.
Customer Review: Another perfect product from Canon Summary: 5 Stars
I owned a Canon Powershot A85 for many years until the imaging sensor died.....then I made really big mistake by purchasing an Olympus Stylus 550. I could go on about the MANY shortcomings of the Stylus 550 but here are a few. Extremely short battery life in temps nearing the teens, sound quality is terrible, shutter speed....well lets just say you better always have a tripod regardless of the available light, but why waste any more time talking about a bad camera. The Canon Powershot SD exceeded my beloved A85 in so many ways I can't list them all. The video is crisp with excellent audio, ease of use can't be beat and best of all the battery life lasts in zero temps! Thanks Canon for another outstanding product!
Customer Review: Best camera for the price for a consumer not looking for DSLR Summary: 5 Stars
Out of the box and on auto this thing takes great pictures, more then good enough for non-professional family type stuff. It's also incredibly fast at auto focusing and getting to the right settings on its own, that's probably because of the digic 4 processor but either way you can shake it up and it'll refocus and acclimate itself in less then a second. It's awesome. There are marginally better point and shoots available but for the price/quality this is your best bet by a long shot. Someone else mentioned it but the lens and auto focus do make a faint buzzing sound frequently, no big deal.
Update: bought a 2nd one with a spare battery and some other goodies for family stuff.
Customer Review: great point and shoot camera Summary: 5 Stars
We have had this camera for a while now and are very happy with it. The battery has a very long life even if we do not use it for an extended period of time. There is no lag from the time you push the button to the time the picture is actually taken. Our other camera is a Canon SLR so to say that we are happy with anything less is a big deal. As with all camera if you zoom into the digital zoom things start to look funny. It is best to get close by using your feet instead of the zoom. low light shots are good compared to most that I have seen with similar cameras. I would definitely recommend this camera for those that want high quality shots with good portability.
