I bought a powershot A80 a few years ago when 4 megapixels seemed like enough. that my old powershot still takes good pictures led me to this one. my wife needed a small camera to take on business trips. well, for a reasonable price we get 10 megapixels, an easy to use automatic mode, and a big screen on the back to view pictures before savings.
unless you have special picture taking needs (and you know who you are) the few dollars that you will spend on this compared to the lowest priced ones get you the perfect travel companion.
it even has video!

A truly great camera. Very high quality pictures even in low light without flash. Easy to use. Long battery life ( several days and taking over 100 pictures per 15 hour day ) Easy manual off and on. Recommend this camera to every tourist. Shirt pocket size. Light weight. I did not expect any camera to be this good. Has plenty of functions for the camera geek but I/we tend to do everything on auto and all pictures per great except for those taken from a fast moving train in modest light. I recently purchased this camera to replace a larger Fuji. I wanted more portability, but worried that I would miss the more powerful zoom of my older camera (6 yrs old). We took this on a trip to the zoo and could not be happier. It will definately satisfy those who are back in the market for a good, easy to use camera. I'm a point-and-shoot, "leave it on automatic" sort of girl. I left a photo that we took with this camera in the customer images section (it's a bird being fed birdseed in the zoo)...check it out, this camera is awesome!Customer Review: Nice piece of equiptment

For as little as I paid for this camera it takes nice pictures. I have been disappointed with many other digital camera's in the past and never thought I would find one I like. canon did a wonderful job with this camera for it is easy to use and understand. I have taken pictures with this camera using some of the features in the easy to navigate menu and when I have printed them out and showed friends and collages they were impressed with the quality. This camera is good for an amateur like me. It has a good balance of cost, features and portability. The main reason for buying this was portability. I own a camera that takes much better pictures thank this one, but is pretty bulky. I was looking for something that took decent pictures and was more portable. So far I am pretty happy with the picture quality. The pictures in bright day light are just great. However, it is challenging to get good pictures outdoors at night. All in all I am happy with my purchase.
