Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon PowerShot SD1200IS 10 MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD (Silver)

Customer Review: Fabulous camera for Senior Citizen
Summary: 5 Stars

I have a couple of digital cameras but my 78 yr old husband needed a camera with a viewfinder that was easy to operate and would generate clear pictures despite his hands being unsteady most of the time. This camera does it all! This camera is almost perfect in every way ! The only feature that we both are a bit disappointed in is the on/off button is small and level with the camera body,so it a bit hard to use. We would have preferred if the button has been raised a bit or even had a left to right on/off instead of an up/down button.I realize the goal was to keep the camera's body small so button size was compromised to have room for everything.
We have never been so impressed with a camera's ease of operation while giving you so many shooting options. I printed the full manual from the Canon USA website (136 pages) and gave it to my husband to read and learn before his 60th high school reunion in late Aug. He pretty well has mastered the camera overnight. The pictures are so clear, the color balanced and we have absolutely nothing to complain about regarding picture quality.
Clearly we are not advance photographers so don't expect an in depth technical review. This is just a great point and shoot camera and it's no wonder it gets such high marks on all camera web sites. Everyone loves this camera because it's so easy to operate and produces great pictures. We love it too !!

Customer Review: Much better than my previous Nikon Coolpix!
Summary: 5 Stars

I needed a replacement for my Nikon Coolpix point and shoot because I was getting annoyed with the blurry pictures. I bought the Nikon about 2 years ago because of its smaller footprint than the Canon point and shoots. However over the last 2 years, I have been fairly disappointed with the picture quality. Therefore I was looking around and after reading the reviews, I bought the 1200IS. I have been using it for about 3 weeks now and am very impressed as are other reviewers with the quality of the pictures for the price point. This is a very basic camera but it is perfect for a compact point and shoot. I would say that 5 out of 10 pictures on my old Nikon came out well. So far, I would say 8 out of 10 pictures on this Canon come out well! I would highly recommend this camera for anyone looking for a basic point and shoot that does not need some more of the advanced manual settings.

Customer Review: Great Camera for Point and Shoot
Summary: 5 Stars

Perfect for point and shoot, also pretty successful if one wants to go farther. Have used most of the settings for different types of pictures... trying to make a point and shoot work like a manual. Can use long shutter speed, and trick camera into quick shutter speed by using ISO3200 setting. Picture quality excellent for most lighting situations (obviously good at low light, only if using tripod or other stablizing mechanism.) Only drawback seems to be that it does have a hard time balancing a bright sky with a dark foreground, however, focusing on something in the middle while continuing to hold button halfway, and then snapping picture helps to balance shot a little better. Would like more control over fast shutter speed ('kids and pets' setting doesn't seem to really work) however, for 2 bills, can't complain at all! Great buy! Great battery life!

Customer Review: Canon Powershot SD1200 IS
Summary: 5 Stars

I hadn't used a camera in over 20 years because my Nikon F2A was just too bulky and too much trouble. With this Canon Powershot SD1200 IS I was taking pictures less than 2 hours after it arrived and the pictures were of good quality and easy to take. The viewing screen is bright and has good image quality. Most of the controls are intuitive. The zoom and auto focus features are really helpful. It is easy to download pictures to the computer. It is easy to change batteries and memory card. I am very happy with this reasonably priced camera. The one drawback is that the wrist strap is mounted solely for right handed people and is almost impossible and very awkward to use for us lefties. It was purchased at Amazon and delivered 3 days after the order was placed.

Customer Review: Canon = great picture quality!
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm returning canon powershot owner who wanted to upgrade from a canon powershot sd600 to a sd1200. I loved the sd600 and still do as it works great and takes amazing pictures but wanted to simply upgrade. Lets just say canon continues to make top quality cameras. The pictures look absolutely amazing. The camera is very user friendly that anyone can pretty much use. The features are great such as the 17 shooting modes so that you can always get that great shot no matter what environment. If I wanted to be real picky, this camera is smaller and lighter than my older sd600 but it doesn't have the durability feel because of it. I still highly prefer anyone who wants a great camera at a bargain price to get this. You won't be disappointed.
