Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon PowerShot SD1200IS 10 MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD (Silver)Customer Review: So easy to use! Summary: 5 Stars
Since most of my pictures are quick snapshots of family members, I need an easy-to-use camera. Not only is this an easy-to-use camera, the pictures are great too. I especially appreciate the automatic focus - very clear images. Even though the zoom is only 3x, I've been pleasantly surprised by the quality of closeups. I did not want to spend more than $150 for my camera so I researched many different ones. For the money, I don't think I could get a better bargain.
At this time, the only downside has been the need to recharge the battery sooner than I expected. I'm hoping this will improve as I get to know the camera better.
Customer Review: SD1200 Buyer - A Refugee from Sony Summary: 5 Stars
As the subject suggests, I'm now a Canon cheerleader and a refugee as a previous Sony owner. Sony's absolutely absurd 'proprietary' batteries, cables, and accessories finally caused me to say 'enough, already!' What a treat the simple SD1200 has been. I'm old-fashioned, so the viewfinder was one of the main selling points of the SD1200. While not terribly accurate, a viewfinder is a very important feature when shooting under a bright sun. The LCD screen just craps out under very bright ambient light. This camera's electronic features, combined with a handy size and weight, makes it an outstanding simple point-and-shoot camera.
Customer Review: Excellent Quality and Value Summary: 5 Stars
For the price, this is an excellent choice for a digital camera. We wanted something smaller and lighter to replace our older Canon digital. Features are great, and picture quality thus far seems excellent. A nice feature is the pre-programed settings for various situations (e.g. beach, kids with all their motion, night scenes, etc.). Our only complaint is that the rechargable battery life is not a good as our old Canon which took either rechargable or regular AA's. The solution is probably to get another battery, so we've always got a fully charged one on hand. Other than this one issue, I'd recommend this model highly.
Customer Review: Perfect for the Middle School Kid Summary: 5 Stars
With the kid hopping on a plane in a couple of hours, bought this camera along with 4gb sd card. The 4gb card was a mistake for the kid used it up in no time. From now on, I'm just buying 8+ gig cards, for the kid just wants to shoot and shoot both photos and movies. Unbelivable, but you can zoom in movie mode and the pictures are sharp, even if not HD. For the price, you can't beat the performance, especially when shooting photos and movies to be shown at school and used in reports. Main thing, the kid is happy and likes to show off the sharp pictures and videos.
Customer Review: Awesome travel camera Summary: 5 Stars
We purchased this little camera for a trip to London this Christmas season. Lots of museums, night time activities, dimly lit pubs. Of course we brought the battery charger, but forgot our adapter....so we crossed our fingers that the battery would hold for a week. No problem! It slides easily in and out of a pocket, took great photos in the daylight and night. Even night shots without flash came out beautifully. Our other camera is a canon also, so the controls were easy to learn. The leather case barely increased the size overall and gave good protection.
