This is one outstanding camera in every way you can imagine. But then, I have come to expect nothing less from the good folks at Cannon.
Despite what some of the more negative reviews say. The pictures from this camera are magnificent! (and I have seen Pixs from other brands of point and shoots that are certanly less then satisfying.)
This is the first camera I've had with face recognition. So I was impressed when it would detect human faces on the images on the TV screen.
It's size is great! And (as the saying goes) I even like the color!!!
I whole heartedly recommend this camera!!! To anyone! At any price!

Simply put this is a great compact camera. It's compact and lightweight, smaller than most in this segment so portability is a non issue. It doesn't feature the gimmicks of other cameras, but it's very well designed and menus are easy to navigate. With one hand a user can turn on the camera and go right into snapping photos. As for image quality, again it's among the best in the segment. Image quality is very good with great color and good white balance.
Without question, there are better cameras, but they will be significantly more expensive and much bulkier. For what this camera is designed to do it is excellent.

I'd been shopping around for a new camera, and bought the Canon Powershot 1100IS, but I wasn't pleased with it. It didn't seem to do much more than my old camera, which is nearly 5 years old. So then I came across the 780IS and I love it! I'm a college student, so it was fun to have one in such a bright red color! Also, it easily fits into my pocket, so I can carry it around to football games or parties or wherever else I go. Also, the color accent feature is a lot of fun. It's easy to use, and you can create some really neat pictures with hardly any work involved. It's great! I definitely recommend this camera!Customer Review: Love it!

This camera takes GREAT pictures. The quality of the pictures is better than I expected. The image stabilization works really well. None of my pictures have been blurred, even when I have accidentally moved while taking a picture. The colors are very vivid. Movies come out great as well.
My only concern is the door for the battery/memory card compartment. The hinge seems kind of flimsy, so I am extra careful whenever I open it.
Other than that - I would highly recommend this camera. And the red color is absolutely THE BEST!!!!!!!
LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE Review: best digital used to date
Summary: 5 Stars The only small digital I have found with a viewfinder--its best feature. This is the primary reason I bought it. My photos are much more professional and I don't have to guess at what I am framing, like so many digital cameras with only the LCD. By using only the viewfinder, I can get twice as many photos as with the LCD. It is extremely lightweight and fits in my smallest pocket. The zoom, located on the shutter button, is much easier to use than the position on my last camera. The only drawback is that the battery has to be removed to be recharged, so buy two batteries and keep the extra charged up. DD
