I highly recommend this canon power shot camera. Our older camera was a nikon coolpix and the shutter speed was impossibly slow which made it very frustrating to use. The canon's shutter speed is very fast, and the wide angle capability is wonderful for landscapes and indoor room shots. The included software is also very easy and intuitive to use. If you would enjoy the wide angle capability, get this model. If you don't need it you could probably buy the slightly less expensive canon power shot elph model - but the entire canon power shot elph series is a winner in my book.Customer Review: Just buy it

I have really enjoyed this camera so far. The menus are easy to navigate and the choice of camera settings is quite large (almost too large). The pictures are great even though I have no photography skills. The camera is light but feels quite durable. The view screen is big and has great clarity. I like everything about it. The lense became stuck half in and half out when powering down at one point. Must have been defective. [...] has been great and they replaced it free of charge. I have no complains after using it for over 1 month. The picture quality is pretty good. Compare to SD850IS, this one is better looking too :) especially the Black option.

I received the SD870IS just in time for fall foliage peak. I have previously owned several Powershot models. The Canon quality is always first rate. The results I've had with the wide angle lens, in particular, have been stunning. All of the camera controls are easy to learn. I have not tried the face focusing feature, but again I am thrilled with the options I have involving wide angle photos. Also, battery life seems to be much longer than I've experienced with other Powershot models.

I've always been a big can of Canon. We bought this camera to replace our SD450. We are really happy with it. Display is huge. We wanted a larger display rather than a viewfinder that we would never use.
Camera is very attractive. If you have owned a Canon before, the menus should be familiar. The only big difference is that to use special scenes you have to actually change it at the top of the camera(switch) rather than through the menus.
Great camera. Great pictures.
