Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon PowerShot SD870IS 8MP Digital Camera with 3.8x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Silver)Customer Review: Canon Camera Review Summary: 5 Stars
EXCELLENT DIGITAL CAMERA! We had used a couple different Canon Digital Elph's several years a go and loved them. But we moved away from them and went to a Casio Exilim and then most recently a Sony Cyber-Shot. Well the wife said "can't I just get a digital elph?" So I searched for the highest rated Canon and ended up with this one. The 950 was higher rated, but I didn't need or want the higher pixels. And just as we remember, this camera does everything it is supposed to do and more. Canon's just simply work. They may not have as many "trick" features as other cameras, but after all of the digital's that we have gone through I would say that they are the best bet for point and shoot simplicity and quality. It is really hard to take a bad picture with this thing. And the new scratch and fingerprint proof screen is really a great feature too. Its a small thing, but I used to spend $10-15 on a screen protector everytime I purchased a camera. It's not necessary with this camera. And I always buy extra batteries for my digital's too. We have been using this thing for a couple weeks and have yet to charge it up. SO it apparently has amazing battery life. So now I have 2 extra batteries on the shelf just collecting dust. Needless to say, I would recommend this camera to everyone.
Customer Review: I love this camera Summary: 5 Stars
I absolutely love my Cannon PowerShot SD870IS camera. I found a nice case to keep it in at RS. It takes great pictures and it is small enough that I carry it in its case in my purse at all times. My purse is not like a suit case either. There are a lot of things that I have not learned to use on it yet and maybe never will.I have only had one other digital camera, so I am not an expert on them. I really love the stabilizer that actually works. I am not real steady with taking pictures or any thing else as far as that goes. Like previously stated, I only have my Kodak Easy Share to compare it with and that one is too big to carry in my purse. The pictures with my Cannon are far superior to my Easy Share pictures, also. I like taking pictures of wild life. It is great to have on me at all times as I never know when a photo opt is going to come along. It is easy to use, cause I am a dummy. The only thing that I have found that I wish were different so far, is that the turn off button and the snap button are a little too close together and I find myself turning off the camera unexpectedly. Fingers must be too big. Anyway... as a causual photographer, I really do like this camera and would and have recommeded it.

Customer Review: The best small point and Shoot Camera Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this camera approximately 3 years ago when it was newer in the market. I did some research before buying this one as the kodak point and shoot camera I had before this one was not great at taking night pictures or wide angle. This camera is everything I was looking for and more. For night shots you have to hold the camera really steady but since I have practiced it enough it gives good results.
It is excellent at taking scenic pictures. I have uploaded some pictures on social networking Site and my friends keep asking which DSLR I use. These days I am also learning how to enhance results by editing contrast just a little to get finer pic. I was even able to take nice pics using focus and macro modes to get 3-D effect though it takes a little effort.
I bought the camera+printer in about $380 3 years ago. Generally cost of the camera goes gown as new models are introduced. But this is being sold at a higher price here which is also an indication of how good the camera is. I am going to buy a second hand DSLR to compare the results but this is best small camera. It can fit in my purse or a guy's pocket. Which makes it really convenient to carry it around everywhere. Hope this helps.
Customer Review: P&S Perfection Summary: 5 Stars
The Canon sd870 IS features everything I could ever hope for in a point and shoot camera. If you can live without an optical viewfinder and are careful around the battery doors, I'd tell anyone looking for a digital camera to look no further than this model.
Canon's, as a general rule, are great performers and this camera goes above and beyond expectation. Image quality is spot on! The image stabilizer does help (just don't expect miracles). The slightly longer (and wider) than average zoom lens is just a treat. It's pretty speedy (won't set any records, but it won't hold you up either). One thing I thoroughly enjoy about this camera (especially over the Canon sd900 I'm upgrading from) is that it shows you the battery level on the LCD screen (whereas the sd900 would only alert you when the battery is dead or dying).
I'll also say that the back of the camera is a little full, so you might just want to check one out in person to make sure the design suits you well. I find it a little cumbersome to have to fumble around with my thumb, especially to see the indicator light, but it's a minor annoyance I'm only too happy to accept when there's so much else to love about the camera.
Customer Review: Perfect Camera Summary: 5 Stars
I've been a fan of Canon Cameras since I started taking digital pictures, the opticals are good and the software helps a lot!. I used to go for the bigger models (A85 and A95) feeling the AA Batteries and quantity of functions were the tipping points.
Now I've got this camera and 1) the convenience of having it in your pocket while traveling, instead of in your bag or car, makes you able to take more of those timely pictures. 2) The batteries are not a problem at all, in fact less than a hassle than the AAs, since they last so long. However I recommend buying at least a spare battery (or go and buy the Canon Digital Elph Accessory Kit for Canon SD950 IS, SD900, SD870 IS & SD850 IS Digital Cameras it has all that's needed) and you'll forget about batteries at all. 3) This particular camera has Image Stabilization, that's good for when the flash really screws pictures. And the wide angle lens is a really welcome addition, rooms full of people are taken without having to go to the corner to fit everyone in, or when you're really zoomed in, you still have lots of viewing area.
