Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon PowerShot SD950IS 12.1MP Digital Camera with 3.7x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Titanium)Customer Review: Recall and strap issue Summary: 1 Stars
This camera had a recall due to a screw inside the battery compartment. Emails were supposedly sent out to registered owners, but I never got one. Additionally there have been several people who have had the wrist strap break off where it attaches to the camera body at a rapir cost of $129. How hard is it to put good quality screws in a $200 plus camera?
Customer Review: Not durable Summary: 1 Stars
Good camera but not at all durable. A relatively minor drop on carpet and the camera would no longer operate because of a lens issue. Sounds like a common theme among the reviews here. Canon demanded $130 to repair which was a bummer for a 3 month old camera. Time to look for a new camera (not from Canon).
Customer Review: Dead in less than 1.5 years Summary: 1 Stars
I loved this camera because it took great pictures. However, it's not durable. I bought it in Nov 2007. In less than 1 year 4 months, it's completely dead. I'd never dropped it onto the floor. I went to the manufacturer website and quoted for repair, the estimate repair cost is $129.
Customer Review: Stopped dead after 16 months Summary: 1 Stars
Same as previous comments -- camera was running fine this morning and stopped dead within one hour. No damage, no problem with battery, etc. Will never buy another Canon as this is the second time we have experienced this problem with one of their digital cameras.
