Customer Review: Finally, a perfect camera for my uses!

I have worked my way through at least 5 cameras, used while traveling and for recording family events. I always wanted at least a little more zoom capacity, while retaining clarity and ease of taking pictures. This one fulfills my wishes perfectly, without the size and inconvenience (to me, at least) of putting on additional lens, etc. The software that came with the camera also provides me with an easy way to trim, reduce red-eye and a number of other features. This Canon PowerShot well deserves the 5 stars I've awarded it. Incidentally, I discovered this particular model while talking to a fellow bus traveler in Mount Rushmore....we were so impressed with the viewing surface. M. The SX200 is for keeps. Its not a perfect camera, its a point n shoot, a very good P&S. It has 12x zoom and 12 MP. Following is the competition and why I opted for SX200 :-
1. Canon SX10 - Too bulky, too slow to startup
2. Panasonic ZS3 (TZ7 in Europe) - Zilch manual controls(but ZS3 has optical zoom in video, SX200 doesnt have that)
3. Nikon P80 - Very poor indoor shots, too bulky, average reviews overall
As for the SX200, startup is real quick, zoom is great and hyperactive kids stay in the frame :).
I noticed some noise while zooming in low light, but thats okay. Check out the 2 pics I uploaded from my Lake George Trip over the Memorial weekend this year.

Takes amazing pictures, the color looks amazing and NEVER washes people out...taking pictures with this camera,makes the pictures look better than all other cameras and better looking than real life...I have owned ALOT of different brands, and by far this is my favorite...Years ago I had a 35mm canon and it was my favorite,until I used the life out of it...so I knew I wanted to spend a little extra money to get another canon,thank god I did!..you will not be disapointed!
Video: Unlike some digital cameras, this camera you can zoom in and out after starting the
video.And the sound is great too...

Got this camera few days before.
I know the lens is locked when shooting HD, but normally your subject is at a constant distance so zooming in beffore taking video is not a big inconvenience. This machine is a killer in its manual control.
The camera body is not that great, i has some thing to improve, but given its might i dont care about the body. After all im buying camera for its picture and Video.
A good hibrid camera, im not going to buy a dedicated videocamera for videos.
Many compare it with Lumix Z3 , but come on this guy is s mini slr.

After reading some of the reviews, I was a little concerned about what I might get, but it was unfounded. Other than the small problem where my finger sometimes holds down the flash (it's in a bad position), this is an amazing camera.
It's my first Canon, and I was not disappointed. I took this on a trip to Central America into some rough country and it held up well. Also, the HD video was of amazing quality. The sound was way better than I have ever heard on a camera like this, and the picture quality was first class.
This was a great buy! I would highly recommend it.
