Used the camera for the first time on a recent vacation trip and was very satisfied. Pictures are very good and camera function was good (Mostly used automatic settings). Main reasons for buying this camera were: Brand name I trust ..... High resolution for the price .... 4X optical zoom and still easy to carry in pocket....and most important - View finder is a MUST!
If you are not a professional like me and merely want a good camera, I highly recommend this one.

I bought this camera for my wife to use with our newborn baby. My camera is a Canon DSLR (XSI) so I'm very spoiled but when I look at some of the pictures this camera takes, I'm blown away at the awesome picture quality, color rendition, sharpness & detail. 4x Zoom versus the standard 3x is also a good thing. For the price and considering the type of camera I'm reviewing I must give it 5 stars. This camera is very user friendly. It has a large assortment of functions that you can learn quickly and utilize to take great shots. Enlargements remain sharp. Easy download from camera to computer or for printing. I like that you use regular batteries rather then having to recharge an internal battery. This allows you to avoid any down time. Only thing I wish worked faster was the flash recyle. Other then that, this camera is very much a 5 star product.Customer Review: Another solid Canon camera

Excellent image quality...optical image stabilizer works great! My second Canon camera (also have the S3IS) and they both take excellent pictures and are easy to use for the novice or intermediate photographer. Had a Sony compact camera in between...will never buy a Sony again...any motion by the shooter resulted in absolute blur. I've used my Canons on boats and the images are still crisp despite the motion. My future cameras will all be Canons!!!Customer Review: This camera ROCKS

This is an awesome camera. I used it in my New York trip last year and again in my Arizona trip this month. It took amazing pictures 95% of the time. The other 5% is mostly due to operator error. You could just put it in "Auto" but it is better to take time to know the different scenes and features of the camera. Yes it is a tad bigger than other newer models. But this camera is worth every penny. You will never regret buying this..
