First of all, I just wanted to say that this is a very reliable camera and product from Canon. The handling of the camera is very user-friendly and I found taking pictures a snap. Great set of features for the price. Takes excellent pictures in adequate light. Small aperture limits zooming in low light, so just keep that in mind; use a tripod in that situation. It could use a smaller image display as this large one uses a lot of power. I highly recommend using the ultimate lithium AA batteries.Customer Review: Easy to use and excellent photos

This Canon A1000IS if just want I needed and looked for. It's easy to use for taking shots for a book I'm writing in dark and light situations. I find it's difficult to work the battery hold and sometimes can't open the cover easily. Otherwise, no complaints. This is my first digital camera and although I'm just learning it, I love it already!! I've taken some wonderful shots of people, flowers, cats and landscapes. My Canon A620 died but was a great camera. When I decided to purchased another camera I checked out the A1000, liked what I saw and purchased it from Amazom. Its a great camera, much smaller that the A620 and only needs two batteries. Takes great pictures. Well worth the price.
