Works just like I expected with the dioptric adjustment lens (Canon Dioptric Adjustment Lens E (-2) for EOS 1D, 10D, 20D, D30, D60, Digital Rebel & 1v SLR Cameras) on my 40D. It sticks out a tiny bit more than the frame that comes with the camera, which actually seems to help cut down on the nose sweat that ends up on the LCD (ew?).
